I would have thought the majority of modern car buyers are impulse buyers, not those who are willing to wait months for a custom car to be built. Who insisted that the first cars should be Launch Edition - the dealer network or Chrysler?
I'm glad the press seems to like the TA edition. That's...
Do an image search for the Viper TA. I think you will find that it is coolest looking car on the road. It's not just beautiful, is also has serious track credibility.
Very few cars have a good resale value, so if you have $120,000, and you want to keep it for a few years, then who cares...
At 12 MPG, Not big enough!
Last night I put $87 into it. Not too long ago I put just over $100 into it. If I were to find myself on E while in downtown LA where gas is $5 per gallon, then I could take well over $100.
That's why I use the Viper for road trips, it gets better mileage ;)
I think it was a close friend of mine who wrote that letter, so I'll be careful in what I say.
I think VCA should just ignore VOA. VCA should just take the higher ground, and keep moving forward.
I don't really care about the money, the dues aren't much more than a tank of gas in my Jeep...
What would it take to get a street legal Viper that fast? Bigger tires? Stiffer suspension? 800 HP?
The thing that impressed me most about the 918, was how easy it looked to drive. I guess a million dollars really does get you something :)

Re: Reached the tipping point: the stock 2013 exhaust interior dB level is unacceptab
The good news is that OSHA says you are safe for 4 hours at 95db.

The bad news is that it annoys the heck out of you to...
Re: Reached the tipping point: the stock 2013 exhaust interior dB level is unacceptab
Just thinking outside the box... Dont' turbos quiet the exhaust? Maybe you need a TT setup ;)
Seriously, you complaint seems to be the opposite of most. I think most of us hate the drone, but have no...
It's nice to know that America can build amazing sports cars that are faster than the best European and Japanese cars (when measured by lap times). The fact that the American cars cost less is just icing on the cake.
When Ralph said that the Viper ACR will be "extreme", he better have meant...
I hate to resurrect a thread that should die, but after watching the whole hour and 17 minutes video, I got the feeling that if Randy was the only one voting, he would have rated the car much higher.
I also think if SRT gave a crap, and gave them the car they asked for, it would have rated much...
I don't think you need to have your hand held in a Viper, but is it too must to ask that body parts don't start flying off the car on a road test? Should the man have had a lighter touch on the brake pedal so that it wouldn't have broken off? Maybe the brake pedal needs a woman's touch?
A...
That's hilarious!
But that article is terrible. After saying how bad the v10 was, he didn't even bother to suggest an alternative. Then to go on and imply that the shifter is bad leaves me completely puzzled. Everything I have read says its the best manual shifter of any car at any price.

Great video, thanks for posting.
I remember reading in particular magazine once many years ago, that different magazines use different testing guidelines. It was explained after someone wrote in accusing their testers of being bad drivers because their times were slower than other magazines...
On our Honeymoon in Maui back in '96 I rented a Viper for 24 hours. Back then, no car had traction control, you were just expected to know how to drive.
That said, when I got it sideways on a patch of ice on the top of Haleakala crater it scared the crap out of my wife. When I told my new...
Does anyone know how cars they need to sell per year to be profitable?
I was told that the car needs to be profitable. They didn't plan for it to be a corporate image car.
People can complain all they want, but it's the best Viper yet, and it already has some new track records to prove that...
If you don't mind, I'll add a little story...
I was new to Viper ownership when the Socal club met the Arizona club for a cruise to Sedona. Well, as soon as I tried to get on the freeway towards Sedona, my car had no power. We had radios, so I told our Lance, our club president I was having...
So from reading all the replies, it appears that some of you don't experience this, and others think that it's normal for water to flow through the doors.
I can see a teaspoon or so finding it's way in, and needing to be drained, but even my '68 Convertible Corvette didn't take on that much...
Thanks for all the replies. I am washing the car on a slope, it's not terribly steep, but significant. I guess I expected a modern car to be a bit more water tight than that. I've never seen a car do that before. I can understand a few drops, but this was about a quart.
The black marks on...
I assume this can't be good for the car. When I wash it, I try to keep the hose away form the mirrors, and door handle. But still, a lot of water gets inside.
I took this video about 20 minutes after I rinsed and dried the car.

Does anyone...
For $300,000 I'd rather have this:
AND this:
Fastest track car that requires more skill to drive - Viper TA, plus a beautiful, comfortable car that's fast and easy to drive - The SLS Roadster.

Welcome to the club! Owners of the gen v seem to be pretty happy. I hope you can join us for some of our events. The SoCal club is pretty active, and a handful of guys go to the track on a regular basis.
If you haven't found it already, go to http://socalviper.com/
I look forward to meeting...
When Ralph Gilles brought the SRT Viper to willow Springs in January, after just a few laps, he had the brakes literally smoking. He said that he thinks the engine out powered the brakes (even in casual conversation, he uses proper marketing terms, he didn't say that the brakes too small, just...
