What a fantastic weekend! It was my first time at RA as a driver and it was everything and more than I expected. I ran in the USTTC (time trials) group. We had 17 competitors on Saturday and 16 on Sunday. We also had cars from the HPDE Solo classes in our run group which made things...
The rear lower shock bolt/nuts should be torqued with the full weight of the car loading the suspension. A four post lift is perfect for this if you have access to one. Otherwise, get them as tight as you can with the car on the ground and then lift it to do the final torque.
I have one similar to the one pictured above except it's solid. Got the pair, front and rear, from JonB at Partsrack.com. Put mine to the test for the first time at Road America this past weekend. LOL
Ditto!! You can't believe the condition that X was in when they dropped it off in the paddock. And a bit later David walks by looking like he just suited up and was ready to hop in another car. Amazing. Simply amazing.
No, far from stock. The stock fuel system with a boost-a-pump was on the ragged edge at 640rwhp on gas. It needed upgrading. Since I was going to change it anyway, I made it large enough to handle straight E-85 and then tuned the VEC3 accordingly. I had a card for gas and a card for E-85...
E85 is a wonderful fuel for boosted applications. Keep in mind though that mixing in E85 is going to lean out your fuel mixture. Your 02 sensors will compensate for that up to a certain point during normal driving. However, at WOT, you're stuck with fixed fueling unless you're able to...
PCV is a huge vacuum leak at idle so the ECM is calibrated to account for it. If you plug it, the ECM is seeing more airflow through the MAF sensors at idle. Why my ECM can't seem to hand that, who knows. All I know is it makes the idle hunt which means the ECM is trying to overcompensate for...
Are any of you Gen4 guys experiencing a funky idle after plugging that port on the intake?
I attempted to install a system like this but taking away the metered vacuum leak by capping off the port on the intake makes my idle hunt. So I installed an oil separator inline with the PCV instead.
I would never wear an open faced helmet or have the visor up on my closed face helmet if the windows are down. And most organizations require you to have your side windows rolled down. I was at an event where a bird flew in the window and hit a fellow driver in the head. You could also get...
