    Good deal on salvage car?

Uhh... You're joking, right? From the looks of it, that car is barely worth $28k as a parts car - and that assumes you'll be the one disassembling everything and have a motivated buyer for all the individual parts. Let that one die a peaceful death and become an organ donor for other cars out...

    ACR and Salt Flats...

Lots of downforce equals lots of induced drag... The standard coupe is much faster, but it's a little floaty at 200 mph. I guess I'd rather feel planted to the earth and lose a few mph than feel like I'm about to get airborne if the car goes over a little whoop at max speed. Just think what...

HELP! Have to Take Off Heater Airbox Cover!

They were pretty good about not hiding any bolts on these, so you should be good. My heater just started sending a little puff of sweet smell into the cabin the other day, so I'm about to embark on a heater core replacement. Pain in the a$$... But at least not as bad as most other cars I've...

Still not right over a 100mph????

It would be smart to do all four corners - you'll have a much better handling car overall. If you just do the rears, you risk encountering understeer since the fronts will push all over the place.

Still not right over a 100mph????

After getting the alignment dialed in, don't forget the tires... Sounds like they're old and could be like hockey pucks by now. That's not going to help the situation...

    99 GTS value

If it's in perfect shape, I'd say $36-38k - and if you have it checked out by a reputable shop and they find things wrong with it, deduct reasonable costs from there. These cars are pretty bullet-proof, and assuming those miles were put on the car evenly over the time of ownership, it should be...

    YESS..Sold my nsx paxton supercharger!

Ok, I'll be the a-hole and come out and say it... Why not sell the Gen III and buy a used Gen IV? You'll have the HP goal reached from the stock platform, it'll be under warranty, and after all the mods are considered, will probably cost the same amount. They also drive a bit better and have a...

    110 oct fuel

I'm not a Gen IV computer guru, but there are some basics about octane that apply to all cars. The limiting factor is the engine and what octane it needs to operate properly. Generally that's dependent on compression ratio, but ignition timing also plays a big role. If the engine was designed...

Probably because it's full of grain alcohol :)

    110 oct fuel

I've seen some 110 that was lead free, and some that was leaded - and you definitely don't want to use the leaded. What brand is it?

When I win the raffle car, I will.....

Depends on the state you live in, I suppose. My tax guy told me that when you register a "won" car in CA, and it is a new car, you pay the use tax on the value assigned to the car by the raffle organization. When we looked at the rules of the raffle, that value is deemed to be the full retail...

When I win the raffle car, I will.....

I was all excited about winning that car, and then I talked to my tax guy about what it would really cost me. Since you get taxed on the 'retail' value of the car, and you're on the hook for Fed/State income taxes, sales tax, and registration, the straight-up delivery cost of the car is about...

    2010 gears for a 2008

Call me morbid, but I think the lowest cost and easiest way to get the job done is to wait a few days after the first 2010 cars get delivered to new buyers... Viper half-life in the hands of new owners is pretty short. There will be at least 50 or so parts cars out there by the end of summer...

Got schooled by CA Smog tech

Trust me - it's a-comin' to a town near you soon... One by one, states are adopting the way CA does things with respect to smog laws and tests. It really sucks.

Got schooled by CA Smog tech

Went to get a car smogged today, and got schooled. We talked afterwards and he was actually a good guy... Anyhow, in all seriosity, here are some tips for those who have 'grey area' cars that need to get smogged. California is apparently sending out a ton of under-cover agents to smog shops...

Was there ever a recall on '03 SRT-10 transmissions?

There are some significant differences between the '96 tranny and the '03 tranny, and TSBs related to the '96 aren't necessarily applicable to the later models. What he was probably talking about was the NGR issue with the original T56 tranny. There was a TSB put out about it that basically...

    I'm a 20 year old wanting a viper gts

Probably true, but there's some good information that's come out of the discussion and hopefully some kids who read the thread get some benefit from it. Believe it or not, my Viper GTS (or at least the thought of getting one) was something that got me through school. I was one of those born...

    I'm a 20 year old wanting a viper gts

Not to sound too harsh, but it's going to come across that way because it's the truth. Forget about an expensive car and going into stupid debt over it. If you're making minimum wage at 20 years old, the first thing you need to do is work your butt off by taking night classes at a Junior...

    Generations

I hear you. The worst things are those V-shaped driveway entrances - for example where the edge of the road is graded downward, and then the driveway rises steeply. I looked like a complete idiot once where I started pulling off the road and into the driveway, and the splitter just started to...

    Generations

Cool to see the cars side by side. One of these days I'm going to do a photo shoot with my B/W GTS and the GTS Blue ACR. It's interesting to see them nose-to-nose. I was looking for a picture like that before I got my ACR. The GTS scrapes on anything bigger than a road reflector, and I was...

    ACR Wing Endplates

I thought about swapping the end plates out, but it seems like a waste of time and money. The benefits of the new wing are a combo of the endplates and the wing planform, so just swapping out the endplates won't gain much. To get the real benefits, you'd really need to swap out the whole...
