    Hunting for another GTS

There are actually fewer '97 B/W cars out there, so that makes up for some of the price difference between a first year car and a second year. '97 also had some refinements that were desireable. Many '97 B/W owners are like me - wanted a '96, they were tough to order, and ended up with a '97...

Regarding Redline's WaterWetter..How many Viper owners here use it?

I use it in all my cars with aluminum heads. Cheap insurance against cavitation effects, and it improves corrosion protection. Doesn't affect the temp as much as they claim - in my experience at least.

    CEL Reader / App

I heard a few people complain that the ELM didn't work on some cars, and read a few various reviews where the Kiwi was being raved about, so I figured I'd go with it. Besides, I got mine at Amazon - it was a bit cheaper than list price, free shipping, no tax, and I had a gift coupon to use...

    CEL Reader / App

I would personally stick with the "PLX Devices Kiwi Bluetooth" OBDII adapter, and download the Torque applications to run alongside it (there are several Torque apps - some cost a couple bucks, some are free). I use these with my Droid2, and they're fantastic. Not only does it read/clear...

    Roller Rockers

You might want to consider leaving 'regular strength' pushrods in the engine. They're the weak link in the valvetrain, and if something's going to break or bend, the pushrods are the best thing to have go out on you.

Thinking about building a 4WD Viper - similar to the old Corvette 4WD hacks...

That's where my thinking started. The SRT8 has got a really stout tranny and transfer case, and uses Dana 44 axles all around. What I'd want to do, though, is possibly fit it with more 'off road' pieces that had to come off for the SRT8 to make that platform work well on the street. For...

Thinking about building a 4WD Viper - similar to the old Corvette 4WD hacks...

I know most people would think it's stupid and crazy, and I can't disagree on that :) It'll probably never happen (at least by me) since there are a lot of other projects that are way ahead as far as priorities go. That said, I can't get the idea totally out of my mind. It would be cool to...

Thinking about building a 4WD Viper - similar to the old Corvette 4WD hacks...

Keep in mind I wouldn't use a car that is in 'good' shape as the starter project. There are some GEN II cars out there that had some serious damage done to them (bent frame, messed up suspension, etc.) that just can't and shouldn't be brought back to 'stock'. That would be a good platform to...

Thinking about building a 4WD Viper - similar to the old Corvette 4WD hacks...

Maybe I have too much time on my hands right now, but I've been thinking about what a hoot it would be to turn a Gen II GTS into something like this Corvette hack. From crude measurements, a lot of the standard Mopar/Jeep components will fit under the body... I know it's sacrilege, but it...

acting like it ran out of gas

So you're saying that you've got power to the relay, but none to the pump? In other words, you've got all hot leads active into the relay, and nothing coming out? Or, do you have power coming out of the relay but it doesn't make it to the pump? Have you tracked the whole electrical line from...

    A few GTS Questions.

Are you sure about the ability to keep a car LHD when it's imported? I work for a company in Sydney, and I go over there often. At one point, I thought about staying there a bit more permanently and was thinking about bringing my car with me. I found out that they wouldn't even let my car...

Valve cover paint code for a Gen4 ??

I'd be interested in that, too. My car is still 'new' but the paint on the valve covers is already flaking off. Not a big deal, but I don't want any corrosion....

How the heck did they stuff a V10 in that thing? I'd hate to be the guy who has to work on it...

    2007 only 435 sold

I think that number is a bit misleading :) There were 435 Vipers sold in '07, but there were zero '07 Vipers sold in any year. It's the rarest of all years, except maybe pre-'92 Vipers - those are just as rare.

Gm says raise gas taxesby one dollar

I didn't watch the video, but the concept of funding road development is a tough one. The roads are in horrible shape in many areas, and the money's got to come from somewhere... I'm not sure a gas tax is the way to go, though. I fully expect to see some proposals floated where people have to...

Getting an Off-Road / Test Pipe made is more trouble than I thought

You might have already thought of this, and it's not the 'perfect' way to do it, but what about just taking a stock unit and removing the cat substrate? There are a ton of take-offs out there, and it's probably going to fit perfect... I know from experience that the substrate isn't too...

    Favorite Gen IV code reader/clearer?

My favorite code reader is the key-on-key-off 'three times' thing. Very convenient whenever a CEL pops up while you're in the middle of nowhere. From there, I use my Android device to look up the codes to see what they mean. Clearing the codes isn't quite as easy with the built-in diagnostics...

New Corvette will Have a 3 liter 10,000 RPM Turbo

There's definitely a move toward smaller, more highly stressed engines afoot. Nowadays, it's not too hard to get 200 HP per liter, and it wouldn't surprise me if small V8 engines that pump out 600+ HP are soon available. Personally, I don't like feeling like I'm driving something that's just...

Gen IV Seat Lowering. Info Appreciated

I didn't have to relocate the amp - just the airbag sensor. There's a stand-off bracket located under the seat that the airbag sensor is attached to. All you need to do is remove the sensor from the top of the bracket, and stuff it underneath the bracket. It will be really obvious once you...

    Hi flow cats on 2010

I have an '09 ACR with Random HighFlow cats, and it throws the p0430 code. I've heard that the code will eventually clear itself, but mine seems to be sticking around.

    Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

Depending on which direction they went in the development of the shaft, there could either be some weight savings, or they could have kept the weight the same and made the unit stronger than the stock shaft. All in all, neither of those are probably worth the cost of the item in my opinion -...

    Rythmic knock when accelling

I'd suggest having a dealer run a check on your VIN to see if the car is still under warranty. Depending on what the 'in service' date is, and whether you have the 7/70, you might be in luck. I've heard of this problem on several '03 cars, but I'm sure there are some '04 cars out there with...
