Gen IV ACR as a DD????

The only reason I wouldn't drive my ACR daily is because of the roads/driveways/parking/a-holes that you have to deal with on a daily basis. There's nothing that messes my day up more than when some idiot slams their door into my car at the grocery store, or I'm in a hurry and can't find a...

post pics of your Viper ACR!

I know - they're glamor shots, but they're all that I have :) They're supposedly going to go into some publications, calendars, books, etc., one of these days but I haven't kept track of what the photographer had in mind for them. At the very least, I figured it would be nice to have baby...

    Failed emissions in MA

What they said above... The Mopar Performance unit won't pass in California, and MA is almost as bad as CA these days (soon all states will adopt the same dumb-ass rules). Swap the original controller in, drive it around for a few days, and it should pass. About the only problem you 'might' have...

    Rattling Clutch Issue

It's probably normal. Have you changed your tranny fluid lately? After 17000 miles, the fluid could have broken down a bit and changing it might help. Also, if you haven't changed plugs and done a general 'tune up' for a while, a rough idling engine will contribute to the problem in a big...

Corsa and R/T high flow cat questions

There are a million threads on it, and all I can offer is my own opinion and observation :) I have the 3" Random cat (ceramic) along with the Corsa Track exhaust, and it was easy to install and sounds good. It's nowhere near as loud as I would have wanted, so if I were to go back and do it...

Gen 4 heads on Gen 2 Block

I may be out of the loop on this, but I don't think it's possible and I've never heard of it being done... It would be a heck of a lot easier to just go with some Greg Good heads, or do the Stryker setup.

600 RWHP GEN IV With Stock ECU

You didn't do 3" high-flow cats and cat-back? I'd think that would give you at least another 10-20 hp over what you got from everything else. Nice pics!

    2008 viper warranty !!

Couple of suggestions - check out the MaxCare 7yr/50000 mile warranty. That will be your best bang for the buck. I got mine from Roanoke, and it was reasonably priced - and I shopped around a bit prior to buying. The dealer I bought my car from wanted $3500 for the warranty, which is about a...

Power outlet/cigg lighter in center console

A higher amperage cigarette lighter? First off, I don't think there are many options on the amperage of cigarette lighters. Second, they're saying that the car doesn't have electrical protection to prevent wiring damage when an over-current situation occurs? I don't know about safety codes in...

    2008 viper warranty !!

Call one of the vendors on this site - they'll give you the straight scoop. My understanding is that you can extend the warranty up until the original warranty expires. One caveat to that - I do some work with a related organization, and they just got bought by a new organization in Canada...

Even Nannies have a place in society in some situations :)

Found 2 Metal Shavings in oil. What now?

Not to hijack the thread, but I could never figure out why automakers don't implement 'mis shift disable' solenoids... They love to give us skip-shift solenoids to drive us crazy when we want to shift into second gear at low RPMs, so it shouldn't be that hard to add the logic to lock out second...

    2012 - 2013 - 2014 ....?????

Something tells me that, once all the 2008, 2009, and 2010 stock is all gone, a flood of information will be headed our way. It would be bad for Chrysler to release any meaningful information before then - it could really screw the dealers who have cars on their lots and are trying to get rid...

    bad starter?

Just to eliminate the 0.01% probability that it's the starter, you could always attempt to jump start the car. Not sure if you have one of those portable jump-starters (highly recommended) or a set of cables, but if the car starts when being jumped, you'll know for sure it's the battery.

    bad starter?

99.99% probability - bad battery :) The battery can have enough voltage and current to run the small things, but the starter needs a bazillion amps to turn it, so a battery on it's way out is going to do exactly what you described.

    Just failed NY inspection

In CA, there was a lot of abuse of the system by mechanics, and CA DMV implemented the "Test Only" station system. In short, if you have an older car, or one that DMV thinks might not pass, they tell you to go to a "Test Only" station. That way, the chances of you getting an accurate diagnosis...

    Just failed NY inspection

Very common problem... Before bringing the car in, sometimes you have to drive it 50+ miles at certain speeds to get the computer to clear all the codes. Just a nature of the beast, and the guys at the inspection stations deal with this all the time. One thing that may be a help in the...

Are Vipers invisible to stop light sensors?

When I rode a lot, I had that problem, too. The easiest thing to do is just jump out/off and press the crosswalk button (if there is one). That will get the traffic light timing system to cycle fast. Otherwise, wait a reasonable amount of time, look for traffic and cops, and go when safe.

Corsa 3" with high flow cats VS complete Belanger exhaust for 2006 coupe?

I have a Corsa 3" track along with Random 3" high-flow ceramic cats, and it sounds good. I personally would like it to be louder, so if I were to do it again I would have gone with the metal substrate cats.

Green color oil on Engine bay,

Which kind of antifreeze do you have in the car? If it's the green kind, I suspect it's not oil that you're seeing, but antifreeze. You've obviously got a leak someplace... Make sure that, if you have pets, you don't let them anywhere near your car. They love to drink antifreeze (it smells...

    viper appraisal for insurance value?

I doubt there will be any diminished value associated with the sill replacement. Virtually ALL '96s and '97s have already had their sills replaced, and if yours is still on the original, thank your lucky stars that someone else is footing the bill for the replacement. The original sills on...

    Throttle % question

That doesn't sound quite right. At idle, the throttle position is open a bit, but I think it's usually in the area of 7% or 8%. Is it idling OK? At WOT, you should be seeing the reading at around 100%. If it's not, a good check would be to have someone depress the throttle all the way, and...

    Oil Change

Three months is probably overkill, and depending on how the car is driven, one year is kind of stretching it in my opinion. I do mine about every six months - typically in April (beginning of driving season) and October/November (end of regular driving season). Since I drive rather...

bog at 100% throttle, not at 95%

Hopefully it's just gunked up injectors. In case that doesn't solve it, here are some additional troubleshooting questions: How many miles, and are the cats still stock? Also, when you removed the throttle bodies for cleaning, did you remove the throttle position sensor? Finally, did you...
