I'd try tightening the valve cover bolts a little as well before doing a complete swap out. But, be careful not to break one. Rcommended torque is 95 in lbs. If you do replace, be careful not to scrape up the mating surfaces. DC recommends using a plastic scraper.
Trying to decide on wheel color for my (soon to be) bumble bee. The stripes will be gloss black. I have the MGW black anodized gas cap, and Roe black anodized blower.
Forgeline offers carbon black, onyx black, and anodized black finishes.

I've had it with the tire glossers. I've tried many of them, and the tires look great. I let the stuff dry overnight. Then, a quick drive around the block and I have to clean out the wheel wells from all the crap slinged off the tires.
Anybody got something that works?
I was at Autozone to get oil a while back. The guy behind the counter was freaking out about my Viper. Great car! And that fabulous V12!!!
Uh, it has a V10. He looked at me like I was a fool. "You didn't get the V12?". Uh, no, it doesn't come with a V12. "Yes it does", he says...
Got a laugh out of this myself. Had a flat in the rear, and went to Tire Discount in Indy. They fixed it for free, and did not put a single scratch on the wheel. I found them by calling the local Dodge dealer, who did NOT have the equipment to mount the rear tire. Discount Tire does their...
I'm getting ready to get new wheels and tires. I'm going to go with 18x13 and 18x10 wheels. I'm looking at Pilot Sport Cup tires, as I'm going to do a little track time. I never drive my car in the rain or in the winter. Any advice on Sport Cups vs. PS2? Also, I'm planning on going with 315...
Venomiss is right. The tech will probably find a few things even on a good car which would impact the price. You would want to use this information in the negotiation.
BTW, you don't necessarily need a Vipertech. An owner who has done a lot of work on his car can tell you if the car has been...
If you are not using a catch can, you will get oil from the intake. When I did my install, I was amazed at how much oil there was in the old intake. A catch can fixed that up.
Lots of good advice here already. I'll add the following.
Get the car you really want, i.e. color, GTS, etc. Shop around to find it.
Get the car inspected by someone who knows Vipers, and buy only one that has been well maintained and cared for.
Get a Race Yellow one if you want the fastest one.
This is like being in hell. :omg:
You look at a pristine Yellow Viper, and you think ... Perfect. :2tu:
Then you look at a Bumble Bee, and you get excited.
I took the car over to a shop where they do a lot of the Indy Cars graphics today for a quote. A little like taking my boy to...
I'm not sure where the best pry point would be. You might try calling Sean Roe and asking. Otherwise, I would use a rubber mallet and tap carefully to break it loose. I would not use anything sharp, or try prying on any mating surface. If you damage the blower or manifold surface, you are...
I'm curious. How hot are you getting? Sounds like you've done about everything. Is it only getting too hot when you stop? Chuck wrote something a while back about needing to do a cool down lap or else you might lose coolant.
Make sure you have all the nuts off. There are ones in the front and rear that are hard find. Do you have the install instructions? They will tell you how many you should have taken off.
From the installation instructions:
The supercharger has been pre-filled with 140 cc’s of synthetic motor oil (Castrol Syntec 5W-50). The level should be checked after the Supercharger has been run for the first time.
I know what you mean about reading the dipstick. I used a magnifier, and still could not see where the oil was on the stick. You can see the oil in the marks, so the trick is to see the oil in the low mark, but not in the high mark.
