    HELP!!! Gen 2 valve covers

Make sure the dyno tune is done with a wide band, in a bung, in the collector area. ....and not just stuck up the tail pipe. Steve

    Vipers win in Escanaba!

Not the last time I checked. Looks like the same wing, front splitter and roof scoop. Nice! The yaller car on the Autoform site is ours, but from the when the previous owner had it. Steve

    Vipers win in Escanaba!

Thanks Bruce! You are the chronicler of events! We were very happy with the dyno numbers. I think this is the upper end for a basic 5 pound Roe kit with headers/exhaust/light flywheel. There may have been 600 HP in there. I told him to stop at 5800 RPM.....just doing our best to uphold the...

    Escanaba Fun Run

Thanks Bruce! Well done as usual. Hard to believe this was our 10th year doing this event. Thanks to everyone for coming 'up nort' again this year. Thanks also to Keith & Shelley for checking out the cruise road from the zoo, hosting us at their marina, and providing the frollicking space for...

How to for Roe S/C removal & reinstall?

    Ohio Weekend

Thanks Bill & Diane for a great time once again. Very well done! The old LND RKT logged just over 1700 miles on it's maiden 09 voyage. Looking forward to seeing you both up here in a couple weeks ...the cookies were excellent ;) Steve

    Panting Valve Covers

I got mine power coated and clear coated this spring to match the blower. No more scrubbing the Viper emblem. It was only $20 bucks per cover. Pretty reasonable I thought considering they blasted all the red paint off as well. Steve

    2002 RT/10 Steering Cap

Yeah, the tube. It was a guy from our club that made it, so I supported his effort. Cheap enough and looks good. As you likely know, you can easily make something similar. All it takes is to add a little more weight to the cap ...hanging down the side to overcome whatever small force tends to...

    2002 RT/10 Steering Cap

I used to use a pair of 440 Channel locks until I bought the fix. The short answer is yes...you need to be concerned. I lost my cap in 2000 when the car was only a few months old. An old Artic Cat snowmachine gas cap fit quite nicely till the new one came. Steve

    mobile 1 or royal purple?

Ya but ....they seem to do quite well in the other established comparative tests ;) They can't all be slight of hand. I believe you even called my oil sample more 'robust' than a Mobil 1 sample which had far fewer and no hard miles........many years ago now. I took that as an 'oil compliment'...

Any proven/recorded benefits of lightweight flywheel?

When I put my Fidanza on 5.5yrs/52K miles ago, I talked the main man at Fidanza about flywheel horror stories. At that time, they had never had an incident over thousands of applications. He told me their R&D has their flywheels spinning at 2-3 times redline for testing purposes. For the last...

Harbor Freight Float battery charger...I have a question.

This is very basic technology. I have never paid more than $15 for a tender. I started using them 10+ yrs. ago. Never have had a problem. I bought 3 B&D tenders a few yrs. ago for $14 ea. at Walmart. They have all the quick disconnect stuff (alligator clips, lighter,or terminals). 1 or 2 amp...

Castrol Syntorq 75W-85 Vs Mobil LS 74W-90

As you may know -- I've been using the Amsoil lubes since buying our 1st car new in 2000. 83K miles on the car now. I've been running the tranny lube for almost 70K miles and the rear end lube for over 50k. The differential lube is in a 3.45 set up which spins faster than stock (creating more...

    Running rich at hwy speeds

That is open loop adjustments you made. It would not affect closed loop operation. I log from the 2000-2200 range in 3rd gear...up to 5400 or so. No need to go higher. If you are hitting it in this area as well....even though you removed fuel...it could be hard to see the change because that's...

    Running rich at hwy speeds

That's the right place. ...So just to check....your WB sensor and OEM O2 sensor are within a couple inches of each other?

    Running rich at hwy speeds

If your OEM O2s are in the 3rd tube instead of sensing all five.......that is very likely your problem. Happened to me. Steve

    What transmission oil/fluid for a 98 GTS?

I guess if venting is the cause....you could pick your flavor for gear lube to see if you can find one more suited to your olfactory senses ;) I always use oil analysis when I change the trans/diff fluid every 30K/3yrs. You might want to take a sample and have it tested to verify everything is...

    What transmission oil/fluid for a 98 GTS?

Never heard of such a thing...not that it couldn't be. I've been running the Amsoil severe gear since it came out in two SC Vipers, one of them gets to the track. No smell whatsoever....no matter how hard it's run or hot the outside temp is. As a matter of fact, I've been using all the Amsoil...

    Need a good Roe Belt

You might be able to find one locally. I picked up a spare at my local bearing / belt place. 5 pounder number was 7PK2500. Same number as the Roe kit supplied belt. It was only $20 Steve

    lightweight flywheel

I just checked a couple places that sell them. The Fidanza is 17.5 pounds. Inflation has hit these things hard as I paid $215 shipped for mine in 9/03. As mentioned a couple times above.....Better braking for the track was also a factor in my getting one. Very noticeably faster revs for track...

    lightweight flywheel

I have over 50K miles on my Fidanza, including 500 track miles and at least a dozen xcrosses. Zero issues. I think 17 or 17.5 pounds is the Fidanza weight. I have always thought the Viper to be the easiest clutch car I've ever owned and that includes the flywheel addition. For a test, I have...

best lube for trans and diff

Amsoil for everything here as well. Been using since 1976. I use oil analysis for all Viper stuff. Always comes back good to go further. Almost 90K Amsoil Viper Engine oil miles. 60K in the differential and transmission Steve

    Gen 3 S/C'ed vs. Gen 4 NA

You're kind of missing the point. Especially the question that started the thread. I would bet that most Vipers with a SC very seldom see heat soak as a show stopper for the mod. Heck a stock Viper doesn't run as good when it's hot because the OEM fuel mapping sends a richer mixture to help...
