    3.42 Or 3.73 Gears

Bryan Pepp. He used to run a Talon, but now the Subaru. Here's one race he did well in: http://www.rally-america.com/event.STPR.2007.php?section=results_overall There is a national Rally event here every year. The POR (Press on Regardless). We used to follow the stages throughout the night not...

    3.42 Or 3.73 Gears

I won't be telling that piece of info. As I only get to xcross a couple times a year, the twin screw power is a handful on a tight course which is set up for, and mainly comprised of, EVOs and WRXs. One of the Subaru guys who races there is a professional rally driver who does the crazy stuff in...

    3.42 Or 3.73 Gears

A 3.55 gear in a SRT (with 19" rear wheels) will effectively be a 3.38 ratio A 3.73 gear will effectively be a 3.55 ratio Personally, I think the effective 3.38 ratio would be the best all round way to go. From my xcross experience, the Viper is traction limited to begin with. 3.45s and a SC...

    UAW strikes Chrysler

Warfang, Your supposition is altruistic. It will never be that way in real life. No matter the business, another rule of thumb says that roughly 10% of a companies employees are less qualified than the other workers. It has to be that way........cause no two people are the same. There will...

    UAW strikes Chrysler

Let's be real Andrew, A smart, English speaking Mexican immigrant could probably take over quite a few executive positions as well.......for a fraction of the cost. It's not rocket science. A college degree without field experience, ambition, and a good dose of common sense is as useless as an...

    Topless virgin

My brackets extend out far enough to provide enough angle so it can't tip out. I'm guessing 15 degrees or so. The bottom of my brackets are around 4.5 feet off the floor. If you can't get the angle, it should be easy enough to add the bracket on top. I store the hard top on the car -- unlatched...

    Topless virgin

The best way to store the top is on the car -- unlatched. Of course, that's for us winter guys. If you just want to store it in your garage....a couple big L brackets and some weatherstripping mounted to your wall will do the trick. Easily done for $5-10 dollars. Less if you already have the...

    ACR shock tool

Glad it was in the car. They don't make the 'special' ACR tool anymore, although there are generics that do the job as well. Our car was minus the tool when we bought it last year. I found one in England..........and paid accordingly. Steve

    Where all the Michiganders??

We will be down there again next year -- probably the first time will be early - mid June for the Gingerman event. You'll have to give me your contact info. I may have it from earlier? I'll stick it in my next year's folder. Steve

    Where all the Michiganders??

Ishpeming.........465 miles north east of Royal Oak ;).........but you never know where we might show up. We blew down there this past Saturday. Home again Sunday night. That makes 6 trips below the bridge, and well beyond, this year. Coincidentally, on 2 of those trips, we have stayed only a...

    Air box screw FELL OUT!

Hand tight here too--77,000 miles--no problem. I take it apart to clean every 9 or 10K miles. You need to apply a little more finger torque to that there screw ;) Maybe you forgot to tighten it at all when you reinstalled the airbox? Steve

Winter Hibernation - Does EVERYONE do it?

I consider it a little good natured ribbing.;) I gotta say though.......2,000 miles ain't much time in the fun seat. We just put 1,300 miles on the last 8 days on 2 fall rides! I thought 10 to 15K miles a year on a car was considered average mileage. I don't why the Viper is considered...

Winter Hibernation - Does EVERYONE do it?

Fair enough.........I'm not sure how much snow that translates into for your area, but we have hit 350" or 360" here before (about 10 yrs ago). This past April we got 5 feet of snow over a week's time. That was a record. Once the salt comes out here in November (sometimes October), that's it...

Winter Hibernation - Does EVERYONE do it?

It's easy to drive your car in an area where snow doesn't fall. ;) I'd do the same. Instead, I content myself with 10,000 miles during the summer months. Steve

    Homegrown ROE dipstick post

The problem is being able to cipher the oil level on the dipstick. It's darn near impossible to see as the oil is very light in color. The method I described above works slick as it discolors the twisty allowing the older naked eye to much easier see the level :) Steve

    Storing the Viper for winter

IMO--storing a car for 5 or 6 months does not require Stabil. I've been storing multiple vehicles / machinery for over 20 years and have never had a fuel or varnish problem. I believe fuel today has additives in it which are plenty good for 5-6 months. Fill the tank pretty much to the top...

    Homegrown ROE dipstick post

Here's the link and what I do. Works pretty slick. http://forums.viperclub.org/showthread.php?t=603658&page=4 Take 2 white twisties that come with garbage bags. Twist them together to make a longer one. Stick the twisty into the hole until it bottoms out (wouldn't have to bottom out as 3"...
