I am having the same problem with my '06 Chrysler 300 hemiC. I have to literally-and dangerously-pull the nozzle to the very edge of the filler tube in order to fill it in 1/10 gallon spurts. It takes 5 minutes to fill it from 1/4 to full. I think it's either the evap cannister (once replaced...
My '08 roadster is awesome, too. It is much faster than my '05 with full Bellanger exhausts and DC computer flash. I thought the '05 was bad, but this '08 is bububububadtothebone.... A streetable racecar!
I'm a member of SCCA but have never run autocross with SCCA yet. I've done some long roadcourses-2.9 miles at Texas World Speedway, Road Atlanta, etc-but have not competed in SCCA. Have any of you done this? How does the Viper compare with the BigDog Vettes? In the class the Viper would have to...
I spoke to DC Performance and they do NOT do a reflash of the '08 PCM because it's complicated and they have not broken the code. They do offer headers and a CAI which they claim makes 40 rwhp, which seems very reasonable.
With the new "improved" Marketplace format I can't find the website or email address for Dan Cragin or DC Performance. Can someone please send me his email or website? Thanks!!
Assuming a 12% loss from the crank to the rear wheels, 638 hp at the crank might be about 560 hp at the rear wheels. That ain't too shabby. I'm wondering how he dynoes "at the crank" unless he pulled the engine to dyno the car. All the dynoes I've used have been hooked up with the rear tires...
Your subject title is wrong. It's like the time-proven addage, "Too much horsepower is never enough." You can't have too much fun in a Viper. My '08 does 0-60 on pvt. property in 3.75 with cold roads, and did I mention that you and everyone needs an MGW shifter to get the fun, almost too...
Everything about the '08 seems to be better than my '05, R.I.P. But the stock shift lever is the least improved of all I am capable of discerning. It's better, a little shorter, but not by much. The MGW shifter, however, makes this baby sing thru the gears. I heartedly recommend it to...
Instead, he told me of a great buy on a like-new rollbar being sold by a former customer of Partsrack. That cost Jon some $$$, but save me more $$$, so I'm tickled with his customer support. I've been buying from Jon for the past ten years and he's never steered me wrong. The one time I didn't...
Autoform told me they make the Snakeoyl rollbars, too. They are one and the same according to Autoform. I guess I'll make the plunge; better safe than sorry. There may be no second chance. Thanks, everyone.
I have an '08 SRT Viper, which replaces one that was totalled after a truck wheel ran over a 30lb tool box lid from a preceding truck that had lost it on an overpass. Having no where to go to miss this flying decapitator, I swerved to miss it, and curbed the left curb at 60 mph. This caused the...
It's cold and wet, and my tires are fully inflated. Either it spins on the low end, or spins at high rpm's. When I get a really good launch the incredible torque monster starts the rear tires spinning around 4,500 rpm's and keeps spinning until I let off. It's dry here, but about 52-65 degrees...
Warfang, work, weather and other things have gotten in the way, but I'll try to improve on it tomorrow. I'm sure there's better time in the car, if I can just squeeze it out of it. This new monster is a lot quicker and easier to make GO than my hotted up '05 with Bellanger full exhausts. I...
I used my Gtech today and on my first try, ever, it ran 3.96 with a pretty poor launch. What are you guys running? It was about 55 degrees at 250 ft elevation in humid Louisiana. I still haven't blasted thru a full quarter mile yet-too much traffic, cold road surfaces and/or rain.
Re: More axed rummors for the Viper
I have been a Mopar man since my first new car in 1964. That was followed by a '66 Charger 383 and a 1970 Plymouth. But Chrysler let the performance cars get anemic for YEARS, so I went to GM for a Pontiac, then to Volvo for a 164 (fastest stock six cylinder...
Re: The axe is coming
Discontinued cars have a common problem of difficulty finding parts for a reasonable price. In addition, there will be no new Viper techs if production of Vipers ceases, unless these cars are replaced by a car similar enough, sharing enough parts/technology to qualify...
I had a Hurst shifter and MGW shift lever and ball in my 2005 SRT10. It was a lot better than the Gen. III factory shifter IMHO. Joseph Dell liked mine so much that he put one in his twin turbo Viper after driving mine.
The service manager of my local dealer may not have "known" what he was talking about, but he said that all Dodge and Chrysler's engines next year will have Hemi heads. I don't know whether this is B.S., or whether, if true, it would apply to the Viper. Does anyone out there have any straingt...
It is the best stock sound ever, but not as good as the Corsa, or as loud as the Bellangers or Borlas. But it's good enough for me, and will probably get better as it breaks-in,as I only have about 1,000 miles on it so far.
Night and day. The '08 isn't as loud as Bellangers or Borlas, but 100% louder than an '06 IMHO. I had an '05, which I believe was the same as an '06. If not, someone correct me, please. The '08s sound more like the late Trans Am 350s to me, as least as to volume, but not as to tone. But you...
