You must really not like this car........ I mean who makes these kind of accusations?
Yes, the super sports and p zeros don't have a huge difference, but there is one nonetheless, and that coupled with the lighter wheels and rotors all add up to make a sizable disadvantage.
Yes, I'm thinking the next z06, or z07 as many have reported, will be more of direct attack at the viper. A potential zr1, which is still pretty far off will likely be aimed at a future ACR which is pretty far off. According to allpar the viper is scheduled to have an update/refresh in 2015...
I just don't understand why SRT keeps sending these base cars to these tests. And with no track pack? As others have said that gives it a brake and tire disadvantage to the corvette, who's running on ultra sticky pilot super sports. I know it's still comparing apples to oranges, but most people...
Oh I have no doubt at all that someone will. But as you stated, it won't be a consistent thing like some of the other competitors. Now a rolling start on the other hand......
I don't disagree with you. I just don't like the idea of a 700hp viper being able to just "hang" with a 540hp GT-R. Yes RWD vs AWD, but Mclarens do 10s with RWD no problem. Now, if the viper could hit 10s with its current 640hp; that would be more to brag about from an engineering standpoint IMHO.
Less weight and more power doesn't necessarily always mean faster quarter mile times. The viper's biggest disadvantage in a drag race is its traction. While it would be cool to say "my car has 700hp" what's more power if you can't put it to the ground? Just a thought.
All the carbon fiber installed on the raffle car are part of existing options (technically 2013 options but there were many delays in production). The raffle car is installed with the carbon fiber exterior package, carbon fiber aero pack, and carbon fiber interior pack. That's over $13k in...
There's no question that the car provided for this test was not in tip top shape and has obviously been abused. Isn't this the same media car that Justin Bell drifted around a dirt road? All that aside, SRT has some more cleaning up to do......
Pretty fair race I'd say. All the times are within the usual numbers we've been seeing with these cars. I love how unique the viper always sounds.
Edit: Just saw previous post. Interesting.
It's really frustrating to me that SRT keeps sending cars that don't really match the test. A base SRT against an SLS Black? A base SRT for this Motor Trend competition? If you don't have the cars, wait. For this test they REALLY should have had a GTS ready. I just don't understand their...
Is it just me, or does it seem like these later built vipers have better panel gaps than the earlier built cars? I've noticed in photos of recently delivered vipers and these photos from the plant, that the panel gaps seem to have been improved.
Ben Keating, two time SRT Viper Cup champion and owner of Tomball Dodge and ViperExchange, has stepped forward to purchase and campaign one of the new SRT Viper GT3-Rs in the GTD (GT Daytona) class in the new United Sports Car Racing series (the new, merged series made up of the ALMS and Grand...

Vipers running strong; 3rd and 6th. The leading BMW hasn't made its second pit stop yet, so they are essentially in 2nd and 5th. Very exciting race this far! Great battles between viper and vette!
I hope this isn't a repost, but Ralph seemed to get considerably better numbers than some of the previous dyno runs I've seen with the gen v. Might be the dyno, but likely shows the motors true potential after being broken in a bit...
I think many of the members here are not acknowledging how remarkable SRT's performance actually was. Not only is this car and team brand new, with no previous data at Le Mans, bad weather and wrecks cut down on testing time tremendously. The vipers were also running down on power relative to...
Just remember that every time you activate one, the other moves, so I have always replaced these together to avoid digging into the system twice. Of course the slave cylinder gets the harsher operating environment, and ages more rapidly, I prefer to have both ends of the system new at the same...
