If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?

You've bought into the marketing bs designed to promote SMG type transmissions. Manual = non-electronic (i.e. you feel the clutch pressure against your foot). EVERYTHING else is an automatic ... auto-stick, SMG, paddle-shifter, blah, blah, blah

    Mopar race exhaust modification

Any comments on paint burning are only because of your posted pictures. It kind of looks like your tips are too far in (I had my Mopar tips sticking out by about 3/8"), and thus burning the paint around the opening ... at least that's what the pics appear to show As for the sound reduction...

IS this TOO AGRESSIVE looking for a VIPER?

I think it might look cool if you tied it all together with some charcoal color stripes ('08 style)

    Mopar race exhaust modification

I had the 3" Random Tech cats in front of my Mopar Race exhaust (instead of the open flex-pipe) and it wasn't too loud at all ... also, probably better flowing than that pipe insert you have there

If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?

You couldn't be more wrong about who and why people buy Vipers. Come to a VOI event -- it will blow you away -- then you might understand. Better yet, get your own Viper, and 'learn' first-hand what the experience is all about -- no other car out there compares to it. It's funny how this...

If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?

Pal, first let us know if you actually ever do come to own a Viper ... cuz it really doesn't sound like you know much about these cars ;) Second, if the Viper is soon to be a 'dead horse' now, it was dead long before this thread was ever started, and for reasons like ... ah, say, $3.00 gas...

If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?

What does something being available via the after-market have to do with something's merit as a potential improvement from the factory??? That might be the stupidest response ever posted here on this board. Many significant improvements (for any car) often appear first in the aftermarket...

If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?

For perspective, here is my wish list of improvements to the Viper before Dodge spends even one second thinking about PS (feel free to add to this list). ... these improvements will make the Viper even more desirable to 'most,' paddle shifters will not: >3.33, or similar, rear gears >higher...

NO NO NO. The pro-PS crowd here just doesn't get it. Stop drinking the koolaid. Everything costs money. Nothing is free. If you want a PS transmission, TC, etc., just like Porsches and Ferraris, go ahead and pay Porsche and Ferrari prices. We're lucky to have this 600HP monster for the...

    08 Viper faster than FGT

Better yet, wouldn't it be great if there was a road racing version of PINKS on the Speed Channel ... stock vs. stock, I'll bet none of the other, more expensive, makes would show up to put their registrations up against an '08 Viper. I can almost see it now ... the 'Walk Away' music plays...

The new '08 clutch system is, in fact, a great improvement ... but cutting 1-2 seconds off of a car's 0-60 time? :rolaugh: ... that must be some good stuff you've got there :boozer:

If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?

What do Ferrari sales have to do with the idea of a paddle shifter in a Viper? Nothing. Ferrari sells to a COMPLETELY different consumer market than does the Viper. (And forget those few here that might own both -- you are atypical.) Dodge could spend $$$ developing a paddle shifter for...

If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?

There is no point in even discussing the '03-'06 factory shifters. It's already been addressed -- the '08 shifter is said to be DRAMATICALLY lighter and better shifting ... case closed.

SRT Quote on the new 8.4L engine:

From Dick Winkles, supervisor of engine development (in Viper Magazine): "I'm considering selling one of my old collector cars to buy a new Viper -- the engine is so impressive and it's such a great car." And another quote about the new '08 rear differential: "... The back axle contains...

If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?

Let me sum up a key objection to even talking about paddle shifting: Dodge should have MUCH bigger priorities for the Viper. It's a waste of time to even talk about it as much as this thread indicates. The Viper's performance is not currently limited by lack of a paddle-shifter. Traction...

Dodge dealer said 2500 more Viper thats it

That's OK, the Viper was not designed for Europe. The only real sports car that you mentioned was the Porsche. The M3-5s and AMGs are perceived as poseur cars over here in America -- the kind that you see being driven with chrome 20s by guys who where sunglasses at night or by rich divorcees...

Someone please kill this thread ... no paddle shifters, they don't exist, there are no plans to offer them on a Viper, so why talk about them :pigsfly:

Conner plant to close via new UAW contract..

Sort of not really true. I had an '05 with: a mopar exhaust, 1.75 rockers, a DC flash tune, a CC flywheel, CC underdrive pulley, K&N and 3.33 rear gears ... all together about 560HP (crank calculation) Even so, the '08 will be a much better car than my '05 was, right off the lot. The only...

Dodge dealer said 2500 more Viper thats it

Let's not forget, the start of this thread was/is pure speculative bs. All we know is that CAAP was noted to be affected sometime over the next 4 years. Period. Dodge dealer said 2500 more Viper thats it

That dealer doesn't know $quat. In fact, I would even question this thread, since it was posted only hours after the UAW news first appeared on the internet last night ... 2500 cars/one year? 5,000 cars/2years? After only 12 prior posts, this thread seems a lot more like, "I'll say this, and...
