    Odd Battery Behavior

Got it fully charged with the Battery Tender and took it to Autozone for the free test. Bad battery. Still unclear to me why it seemed stronger when the motor was cold, but I'll just have to live with the mystery. Thanks to all who replied.

    Odd Battery Behavior

When my '94 is cold, she starts up fine -- battery feels/sounds strong, like new. But if the car is warm -- say sitting in a parking lot for an hour -- the car struggles to start with what sounds like a weak battery. It is able to turn over the motor once or twice, but it barely catches and...

Gen 1 Overflow tank flushing/system bleeding

I am about to replace the OEM hoses on my '94 with the silicone kind. Would you mind elaborating on "another level of care and 'adjustments'?"

Who Made These Radiator Air-Bleeder Valves?

Several years back I bought these two bleeder valves that make burping the coolant system on my Gen 1 much easier. One installs in a hose at the high point of the system on the passenger side, and the other on the driver side near the power steering fluid reservoir. Unfortunately I discarded...

    New Gen 1 Owner 1993 RT/10! Smog

I replaced the stock accordion-style intake tubes on my '94 with the "smooth tubes" and they wouldn't pass me because they did not have a "CARB ID" on them. My solution was to move out of California.

Gen 1 Questions (fog lights and parts)

Good questions about the bulbs. The original headlight bulbs and fog light bulbs on my '94 are still working, but I know they won't last forever and would be interested in replacing the headlights with high intensity bulbs if they are available for the Gen 1.

Sourcing Obsolete Parts For Gen I and Gen II Vipers

Gen 1 driver's side door pull/handle (have also seen this described as "door latch remote control"). Not sure of the part number. Mine is still working to open the door, but the spring that pulls the handle back into its recessed position gave out. Passenger side is available from a few...

    Best Gen1 Top-Window Combination?

My '94 RT/10 is stuck in the past. I got a free black Mopar factory hard-top when I signed up for VOI 2. It's a pain in the neck to install/remove, but it still works fine. I also have a pair of sliding glass windows made by a company called Northwind Engineering that I purchased in 1995 for...

    viper mechanic new orleans

Mike at Prestige Auto Works in Slidell does the "super performance mods" you're not looking for, but I was happy with the basic maintenance/repairs he did on my '94. 985-259-4727

Hidden "HISSSSSS!!" sticker found in my 1994

Found this sticker in the passenger side door panel as I was replacing the speaker. Date Built is the only legible item, "6-13-94" hand written in blue ink. The other items -- Built By, Date Inspected, and Inspected By -- are too dirt- and water-damaged to be legible, sadly. Thought it was...

Gen 1 Seats -- Driver's Side and Passenger Side interchangable?

Greetings, Are the driver side and passenger side seats in a Gen 1 interchangable? My driver's side seat is really deteriorating, and I'd like extend its life by switching them out and making the driver's side the (rarely used) passenger side seat. Forum search yields some discussions about...

Sourcing Obsolete Parts For Gen I and Gen II Vipers

Dan, did you ever find a source for the sending unit? I'm getting wild fluctuations of my gauge all of a sudden so I think I'll need this part soon... JR Red '94, 109,000 miles

San Diego: Found Viper Keys (Rancho Bernardo)

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this or not, but here goes... A set of Viper keys was turned into the High Country West (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo) community club recently. I am told they were found at the soccer field/dog park on Lofty Trail Drive a few weeks ago, and nobody...

List of Dodge Dealers to be closed

John Hine in San Diego was on the list. I'm not sure there is a Viper Tech. in the San Diego area now. Pretty sure I read that the Tech. at Jack Powell Dodge in Escondido (not on list) left a while back.

    Steering Gear Boot Cheater Tips?

I drained the reservoir and refilled with Stop Leak fluid from Lucas oil. Drove it last weekend and it's still dripping, so it's not looking good. I'll give the stop leak a little more time to swell the seals before taking her to my local Tech. Jay R.

    Steering Gear Boot Cheater Tips?

Thanks for the tips. I'll post back after I've implemented these suggestions. Hopefully I won't need a new steering rack at this point. JayR.

    Steering Gear Boot Cheater Tips?

Excellent advice, thanks Tom. Based on the size of the drips in my garage and eyeballing the leak, I say it is a slow leak, and maybe a candidate for the "old car" PSF. Do you think just replacing the all the fluid in the reservoir is ssufficient? Thanks again, Jay R. '94 R/T 10 98,650mile

    Steering Gear Boot Cheater Tips?

I'm having this same problem at the moment. So the concensus here is that the rack really does need to be R&R'ed? I've never done this job -- is it something the weekend warrior with a Service manual can tackle? And, how much is a new rack? Thanks, Jay R '94 R/T 10

What does this broken red wire do?

This is a photo of the wire harness that runs from forward-most part of the driver's side door into the body of the car. As I hope you can see, the harness cover has broken, exposing the wires, and one (red) wire is broken. Nothing that would be controlled by the door latch is malfunctioning...
