Five point harness is standard equipment on an ACR...part of the $10K American Club Racer package...

true. but most people that dont race their acr's replace the 5pointers with regular seatbelts. the harness is a royal pain just for recreational usage...

just imo ofcourse

ACRs come with both the regular seatbelts and the 5 point harress.

This one is local to me if anyone wants me to scope it out...listed locally for $62K...I kind of figured $58K would buy it...

I'm looking at that car on ebay. I am going to send you a pm. Could you check it out for me?

I'll check it out Monday after work and give you a call...believe it or not...this Saphire GTS is at a freakin Huyndai dealership!

If you find that this ACR is suddenly no longer available, this will mean my 2000 Black RT/10 IS!

Vipers are a steal right now. I was going to pick up a 2000 ACR with 10K miles for 55K, but my priorities got shifted at the last second. I think at the begining of next year I am going to be looking for one. By then they will probably be selling for 50K with the 03 lurking about on the road.

That's about a 35% depreciation over a 3 year period. About average for a car. No big deal, but luckily it's still better than most right now! A 3 year old Vette has probably lost 40-50%. So the Vipers are still holding out pretty well in my book.

Plus, I feel that the ACR package in general doesn't hold it's value well so if you look at a GTS the rate will be even lower.

That acr is beautiful. Some silver stripes would be very nice on that car. Looks like a nice price. Has anyone seen the car in real life yet?

FULL REPORT: Smaz and I scoped out the Saphire ACR...here's the facts...

PRO's

1. 8,621 miles
2. Interior is near mint
3. Bone Stock
4. Engine looks very clean
5. Stock K&N's look really clean
6. Runs great
7. Brakes have plenty of meat, appear stock, no yellowing of the Viper letters on the calipers
8. No curb rash on any of the ACR rims
9. Comfort Group
10. I didn't see any "paint chips" in the upper front facia or the hood, no rock chips in the headlights.
11. Tires look great, no excessive wear at all
12. Overall a really nice ACR...

CON's (and you knew there would be!)

1. Dark cars show EVERYTHING in the clear coat, and this one has swirls, no actual scratches, but swirls, everywhere. Nothing some 3M Finesse It II, a Porter Cable, and two solid days couldn't fix.
2. Hood pad had that white film on it from the car wash
3. Needs an oil change...oil was dark, but not black, no visible contamenants.
4. Door sill and side sill had the lazy driver scratches, buffable.
5. Passenger side sill and door sill has minor, minor scratches.
6. No floor mats
7. One remote FOB didn't work (Battery?) The other one did.
8. LOWER FRONT FACIA NEEDS REPAINT (No buffer's gonna help this) You guy's know where...its not beat, but definitely scratched, beyond touching up...only repaint and a chin guard will permanently fix it.
9. Car is sitting outside, and appears to have been there for a while. Locally listed for $62.9K, and they were asking $69K...

BOTTOM LINE: With minimal work and expense (less than $500), this would be a very, very nice ACR...the Saphire is a really nice color...I especially like it with the black interior...$58K - $59K would be a very good deal, not exactly a Benko ACR Deal

, but a very good deal...IMHO.

That's top secret, inside information, but I can say it was a very good deal, on a gorgeous ACR!

A buddy of mine has a '00 ACR. Gray/blue stripes. Comfort group (like most ACRs). Bone stock, never raced. Bought it new in April, '01. It has 13K miles. I've put half of those miles on the car, as the ACR rides too rough for his regular use.

For average Viper street driving, I think the ACR is a negative. Many times I've driven the ACR then jumped in my '99 GTS and I DEFINITELY notice the rougher ACR ride.

For those of you who road race, is this car truly race-ready? How much $ did you save starting with an ACR vice a regular GTS?

He got a good deal on it new, but it looks like it's not worth any more now than a regular '00 GTS. We had it advertised for a while, and not many bites. Now he's just going to keep it. I would...beautiful car.

BTW, you don't really notice the harnesses against your back when driving the car. They lay against the seats pretty well from the factory.

Oh, yeah...as an owner of both Gen 1 and 2 cars, I absolutely hate the Gen 2 seat belts. They are uncomfortable as hell. Anyone know what I mean?
