I'm doing Roe's upgrade to SRT brakes in the front of my 01 GTS. I know Dave offers a kit to move the existing 13" front rotor and caliper to the rear. Anyone else offer such a relo package? I'm researching my options.

Anyone else do this? Results?

Thanks!

I'm considering the same SRT-10 front, move stock stuff to the rear setup for my 01 GTS. As far as e-brakes go, will I have to retro the SRT-10 style e-brake to my car? Also will I have to do a master cylinder/booster upgrade? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See the above posts re: Daves upgrades. It is the easiest and most cost effective solution to adding SRT brakes to a Gen 1 or Gen 2.

Steve,
First which wheels do you have:dunno:
Here's your choices:omg:
SRT-10 14" fronts & rears(again which wheels) if you have OEM 18"
SRT-10 14" front 14" rotors & SRT Rears w/13" rotors(wheels):D
SRT-10 14" Fronts & Gen2 fronts w/13 rotors (wheels?)
I also have a Billet E-Brake Kit(again OEM wheels):dunno:

As you can see it's the OEM wheels that determine which kit you use:eater: because of the wheel offsets, this is with any kit, including all the brand XXXXX's:D

Your booster & M/C are fine:2tu:

Again, it's the OEM 18" wheels(offsets) & how much you want to spend:D Big Brake Dave:omg: has the right kit for you:2tu:
Just call my cell 858-382-4713 8AM -9PM PDT (Cal)

Currently I have OEM 18" wheels, but will be upgrading to a Iforged 19/20 combo in near future. This would be the kit I'm interested in most likely(( SRT-10 14" Fronts & Gen2 fronts w/13 rotors (wheels?)

I run Dave's 14" SRT-10 Caliper/rotor kit on the fronts and 13" stock front caliper/rotor on the rear. Have had no issues on the race track with this set up.

I finished my brake upgrade this weekend. I put Roe's SRT front brake upgrade on the front, and moved the stock Gen 2 fronts to the rear using Dave's kit. I'm going to upgrade to Forgeline wheels next month, but for now I've still got the stock wheels. Roe’s package comes with his own slotted 14” rotors, so I also bought new matching 13” “front” rotors to put on the rear.

The installs went well. A few oddities on sizes of flare nuts, metric vs SAE etc. but pretty straightforward. Both sets of instructions could do with a few more photos, but they are still above average for aftermarket instructions.

The rerouting of the ABS line, the SS brake line, and the E brake line in the rear are not well documented. You do reroute lines, and use tie wraps to secure. This is critical to keep them from being damaged by the wheel or half shaft. I’m pleased with my routing, and tie down points, but I did use additional tie wraps to secure the lines. I had no issues with rubbing.

Cutting the tabs is another area where a template would help. It is not clear exactly where to cut. I cut off a little more than needed. If I had it to do over again, I would draw a line with a Sharpie as a guide, and take off a little less. Grinding with an electric grinder is fast and easy, so better to leave a little extra and grind it off. But, we’re only talking about an 1/8 inch of material so mechanically this does not amount to much of anything.

The DC manual and Roe advise you to use a special tool or piece of wood to depress the brake pedal about 1” to stop fluid from draining while you are working on the car. I ended up using a real thick book (3”) against the driver’s seat, and an 18” board to the brake pedal. This worked great! The only fluid you lose is what is in the lines and calipers. The reservoir does not drain. Since the brake lights will come on, you need to cut off the electrical connection somehow. I just pulled the main power connector above and to the right of the PCM. One bolt and it’s disengaged, much easier than taking off a battery connection.

I don’t have any data on stopping distance before vs. after. But, the car stops unbelievably well now. I’m pleased with the results. BTW, I used ample Disc Brake Quiet spray on the backs of the pads, and no squeaks. Yet. :D

I've got pics if anyone is interested.

Hello , I'm also interested in that mod. Did you find 13" 2 piece rotors like the ones sold in the front kit?
I'd like a picture of the rear set up if you don't mind.
Thank you.

Roe sells replacement rotors for the Gen 2 made by the same supplier as for the SRT upgrade. So, they stock the exact same rotor in 13". Here is the link. You will need the rotor, rotor hat, and bolt kit.

Thanks for the pictures.
Do you think the braking is more balanced than with 4 SRT calipers and rotors?
Is the pedal feel different?

Pulling the fuse is even easier. :D

I did the Roe front kit and relocated the front rotors to the rear. I used brackets fabbed by one of our local members. If you can weld, you could very easily make your own.

OEM 18" wheels fit on the front, no spacers needed. Spacers required for the rear though. Too bad Roe doesn't offer a rotor hat with a different offset to eliminate the need for wheels spacers. :dunno:

Pedal feel is good. Less spongy. (But that is subjective)

I decided to do the Gen2 rears vs. SRT so that the original balance would be somewhat preserved. With ABS, I think I'm in good shape.
