Hi Guys,

First time poster here- looking for some help with my 03 convertible on what the specifications are for all the different speakers in the car. I am very much an OEM only kind of guy but cannot find any of the original speakers in new old stock. There isnt really anything wrong with the ones i have in currently, but i am getting a new RBQ head unit that has an aux input built in and i would like to just go ahead and get some much nicer speakers to go along with this upgrade. I have taken one of the speakers out of the door and can see that it is just straight up soldered on the positive and negative terminal but i cannot find much info online about the size of the speaker and more importantly what the factory impendence of the speakers are supposed to be. I do not want to put in speakers that are too difficult or too easy for the factory amplifier to drive.

If you guys have any info on the specs for the OEM system or have recommendations on what you all have done to your cars please let me know!

I'm currently running a set of Kicker 6.5" speakers. They are a straight drop in for the factory mounting holes and fit behind the stock grilles as well. I don't know if they sound any better than stock as my car never had stock speakers in it since I got it, but I am running them with a factory nav head unit and amp and they seem nice enough. You have to be careful and get 6.5" speakers, not the more common 6.75". The 6.75" is a 4 hole mounting pattern, though some are double drilled to have the 3 bolt 6.5" pattern as well. I don't think they fit behind the factory covers though.
