Jon,

That is truly the way to break in a car! Congratulations on your new Viper, and thanks for sharing your experience with us!

THANKS, Ron ! Glad to see some OTHER Old-Timers still as passionate!

CLARIFYING:
1) There is more HEADROOM in this Coupe than my GTS.
2) There is more LEGROOM in this Coupe than my GTS.
3) There is more FOOTROOM in this Coupe.......
4) The A/C is much more comfortable / adjustable than my GTS
5) There is more cockpit storage area (true glovebox and console box.)
6) I do miss the seat-front web pockets that the GenII has...
7) The stripe IS CLEARCOATED, but ON THE STRIPE...this gives a sharp edge.
8) Did'nt intend to imply cockpit was hot. It's comfortable and controllable.
9) We took the southern route over I80-70-80 to see friends/family.

Im impressed, the cars beautiful! Congrats on the delivery. Those wheels look better to me now then they did before. Still prefer the "old" first edition wheels though.

My only complaint is i think it needs to be a little bit lower. Mayby just like a half inch, just looks a little high to me.

What happened to the silver (metal) dash/instrument surround that is listed on the FE package price and shown in all of the pictures? Did you request it not be added to yours or are we all getting shorted on the package? That was one of the features which really set it off for me. What is up with DC?

I agree with BobK....the First Edition coupe interior/show car had a silver center stack and console....I refer you to ViperBob's post on 9/9/05. Bob

Never seen that hood before. Is it Gen 1/2/3? Who makes that hood and how much is it?

Available from PartsRack, this is the series III World Challenge VCC hood.
The pit-crew weightlifter says its only about 11 lbs

JonB --

Thanks for taking pictures of my car and passing them along to Russ. I hope I won't have to wait too long for transport. Again, congrats on the new ride; it's stunning.

Are you saying I'll fit????
You were kind enough to let me sit in yours while my '96 was on order...
Can I trial fit my butt again???

Excellent, Weather looked interesting if you headed straight to Washington from Detroit. I think the first snow fall was expected and I was waiting for the handling in the snow report!!

Paul, you are ALWAYS welcome, (and you know the way.) But at 6'7" you may be headliner-touching. I measured 4" open headroom on my 6'3"....but you are more long-waisted. I think a 2" seat kit would make you fit. DEBUT at Timberline on Sunday.

I liked the satin black dash so much in 96-97 that I asked D-C to convert the whole Coupe line to satin black, and leave brushed alum to the aftermarket!

,NOT !
My window sticker mentions First Edition Group, including SATIN SILVER SHIFTER BEZEL....which I do have, the round donut ring around the shifter. That is all I thought I was getting..... But I was surprised at the addition of the embroidered floor mats, and the black-striped car cover, both included in the trunk. The DASH PLAQUE is in a goofy place....there were 2 obvious locations for it, but neither was used. Same as MAMBAs... weird placement.

Well, I'm disappointed because I thought the satin silver dash really set off the interior. DC obviously made at least one of these for the photos. I wonder if they would consider making them available to us as an after market upgrade.

By the way Jon, were you able to find out what number my dash plaque is (VIN 100301)?

That’s good to hear. I had heard otherwise and thought that sucked for tracking the car. I lowered my GTS seats 1'' but then you know that :)

So, when do we get the Coupe smoke show shot?

What a great picture of them side by side!

Also love this pic....
Congrats Jon awsome car..

I WAS SURPRISED that the "overly Voluptuous" lines of the beloved GTS are actually made to look more subdued when the SRT-C is parked alongside. NOTE the higher, more aggressive bulges on the SRT-C

i agree jon b, and I also think that the coupe does not have any good light shining on it, unline the pic at the top of this page. Many of the great lines are hidden in the comparison shot.
