1/2 ton Hemi is plenty of truck and the 5 speed auto tows really well. It's major shortcoming is tires, but if you get 17" rims, you can get Load Range D or E rubber. I used to drive only 3/4 ton HD trucks, but got tired of piggy handling and a rough ride. Stiffer tires, and an extra leaf in the rear spring pack REALLY make a nice package for the 7000# class loads. If I were towing more than 8-10 times a year, or lived in the mountains, I would go with a 2500 turbo diesel.
1/2 ton not enough truck.3/4 ok.Max rated towing is for flat level,no hills towing.Anything else rig should not be more than 70% of max. Bruce
