It seems like a lot of you guys run the 1/4 in your cars. I grew up drag racing at Atlanta Dragway (and I believe it's still the closest to me), but I've run into an issue. My car is a vert and the NHRA rule books say anything under 13.49 must have a 5 point roll bar. I contacted the track official at Atlanta Dragway to see if there were any provisions for cars that are faster than that off the showroom floor and I was told there is not. How in the hell are you guys running your cars? Do a lot of tracks not enforce this?
I'm also planning on adding a Paxton this winter, and even if some tracks let you run a "stock" vert without a 5 point, I can't imagine them letting you run a blown car. Adding the Autoform is one thing, but I'm not putting a 5 point in the car. I can't imagine trying to get in and out with one installed. I know a lot of you are running really fast times and I highly doubt many of you have a 5 point in your street cars.
How/where are you running?

No big deal installing a 5/6 point harness in your car. All the mounting bolt holes are already there. When you are not using them simply hang them down behind your seat. Invisible till you need them.

Harness I don't mind. I'm talking about a 5 point roll bar.

You have to pick and choose your track.
Go to Steele in Al. or Reynolds which is SW of Atlanta.
Atlanta Dragway is one of the strictest on rules.
Come join us at Brainerd this Saturday for a street car race.

I haven't been there yet, but I plan on trying out some of their Tues night street racing or Fri night test and tune. I haven't put this car down the track yet. Not a fan 1/8 mile, but it will let me practice launching.

Unfortunately, I'll be in Greenville, SC for a wedding this weekend. I'm missing the damn Dragon Run as well for another wedding. Damn non-Viper owners aren't very good at checking my schedule before they schedule their weddings!:)

Using an autoform hardtop will allow you to run as quick as 11.50 at Atlanta dragway. Any sub 11.5 requires roll bar. I've run 11.57 there with my hardtop on and had no problems at all. I've had the car tuned since the 11.57 run, so I'll get kicked off the track the next time I go there. As Tony said Steele Alabama and and Reynolda Ga both have great tracks and are much more accepting of fast cars. Both are 1/4 mile tracks. Let me if you want to go to Atlanta dragway. I'll bring my car and you can use my top. I don't live to far from the track.

Good deal. Thanks!

I'm not sure when I'll make it down there. Maybe I can find a cheap used top for track days. Does this apply to any hard top?
Price is one thing that has held me back, another is all the talk I've heard about them rubbing and messing up the paint. Have you had any issues?

Infineon Raceway is the same with verts. The sent me home the first time and gave me my money back. I put on a autoform rollbar and a hardtop no problems the rollbar meets the requirements. I actually like the Autoform top. Running 11.7 123mph. Its a small investment (sortof) if you want to drag race and I love to do just that only at the track. They have weekly wed night drag racing and the track is only 30 minutes away. Nothing but fun....

you guys are so lucky!!!!

When we had a track here in hawaii it was open 3 days a week ALL YEAR LONG!!

I was their a minimum of once a week in my camaro or vette...sometimes twice a week!!!!

I honestly feel like a part of my life kinda died..it's been over 3 years since the track closed..And yet I still remember the 1320 sensation like it was yesterday..

Enjoy it guys...

Yes the hard tops are a little pricey, but worth. Hands down my favorite mod for the car. It's like having two SRT's. I dont think it matters which hardtop is used for drag racing so Jeff Lemke's top should be fine. The Autoform top is the only top that is SSCA, and NASA approved. If road courses are in your future, get the autoform. I've had mine for over two years and haven't had any paint issues accept for where the hard top goes under the trunk, a little paint came off the top itself,(user error) but isn't noticable with the trunk closed. The paint on the car hasn't been affected at all.
