Just found a moment to post these pics a mate took from some recent runs we made at 1 of only 2 drag raceways in the UK. Both cars are on stock suspension which really helps the weight transfer, both run Roe SC's and were on several year old DOT drag radials, my tyres had been loaned to other members last year so are probably past their best! Last time I had my car down the quarter was 2 years ago, did 10.8's at 131mph but the ACT race clutch was smoking, run after run! I put a decent twin set up in there for this year from DC Performance, went straight out and did 10.3 at 131mph consistantly. There was a strong head wind, I wonder does any one know if this would effect the ET that much at upto 131mph? I know from racing on circuit the aero really takes hold of the car at 130mph+ from adjustments I've made. My Beloveds twin ran an 11.2 at 124 mph on one of his first and only runs, unfortunatly the silicon top hose blew the bleed valve out, and antifrezze everywhere! Cars need to go on a diet I guess to run better times, they are 4000lbs with blower, roll bar, large WI tank /pump, aircon etc. My mate who took the photos lent us his bike, a 1400cc for a paddock bike to go get slips, looked quite funny chasing the monkey bikes to the ticket office!

I'm wondering if 9's could be in reach?? Probably not! The cars at 4000lbs, I don't know how much weight I'd need to save to see a difference in ET, nor do I know how much the headwind hurt, only that it probably did reduce mph and ET?? Can someone that drag races Vipers help, the only other quarter mile V10 Viper I have to go on over the pond here was a Paxton SC '99 it ran 10.0 at 147 mph and is lighter than my car, owner put the same suspension back on as me at one point and my tires. The mph is way higher, but then I know he had about 400 bhp more than me. Can anyone advise how much weight save would be required for say getting another 10th? Thanks.

Very cool Nadine! As your velocity increases, drag from wind resistance increases as the square of the velocity. So, yes your times were hurt big time from the wind. You did make some great runs though!:drive:

***, if all else equal, for every 100lb off the car you gain 1 tenth off your ET This works to about low 8's high 7's then it will take 200lb to drop 1 tenth. That's as far as my personal research has taken me.

Drag racing in the UK. Gotta love it. Some folks would have us believe that you guys over there hate everything American.

That's because you probably watched the biased dorks on Top Gear.. :rolaugh:

I spent 2 months this summer in England, hooked up with some of the UK members, listened to locals who loved the Vipers at the car show,, heck and even when I brought the subject of a Viper in the pub, they always replied with positive admiration of the car.

Way to go Nadine, you rock gal! :2tu: (and don't be jealous you other Viper gals.. I enjoy all your company! :D )

What ever your doing keep going .For that mph you running at least a half second quicker than any Viper i have ever seen with a 131 mph trap speed.(Most guys turning 131 are running 10.7s slicks skinnys ect)

Yes, VOI bound! Thanks everyone, I didn't realse the results were so good, very pleasing coming from USA as you always seem to get better times over there. I couldn't get my car to a track last year, then the first time I did last month I was running bad in the 11's at an event, as I had a controller glitch and my poor motor was badly misfiring (infront of all the UK's top tuners- ooh). I'm encouraged by your info that losing 100lbs could gain a 10th for the car, that's amazing (and no more cookies for me either...well not until after VOI!). Thanks for all your help, I wasn't that bothered by the wind on the day, it was dry which has been a rare thing in the UK this year, but now I need rain and wind free track to try better this...
