Had a little better luck with my SRT-10 at the drag strip back in February 2003. Second pass resulted in the following:

60 ft 1.9748
330 ft 5.1748
1/8 mph 94.75
1/8 et 7.7805
1000 ft 9.993
1/4 mph 122.95
1/4 et 11.8657

Bone stock... no modifications what so ever.

Whew--this pass was done a good while ago but it sure does demonstrate just how quick a stock SRT-10 really runs. Imagine the possibilities with the addition of a Paxton or Roe supercharger and awwwayyy you go. :D

The quickest magazine time with a Gen II Viper was a 2000 R/T10 Viper at 11.77@ 120MPH. But most recorded runs for stock Gen IIs are closer to 12.2@ 118MPH, and some exceptional drivers have supposedly done mid-11s stock, but that's likely with perfect weather, great track prep, powershifting, and tons of skill and practice dragracing.

I think that 12 seconds and better is very good for a factory-stock SRT-10 Viper.

Badvenm,

Hang in there. Practice dragracing does make a big difference. You will no doubt see 12s soon with a little more time running at the track as you get a feel for how the car hooks up. :2tu: My first run was a 13.0 too.

Since mag times were brought up I found this interesting link on Vipers...Never seen some of these times in mags but its very interesting...Heres the test of an ACR....Seems to be as fast as the SRT10..

http://www.dodge-vipers.com/02acr.html

BTW numerous mags have gotten 12.0 or better out of GTS vipers...All about the driver. I remember PS getting 11.9 @ 120 out of a GTS..With 50 more horses and lighter weight than a GTS I would be expect better than 12.0 or 11.9....A few have gotten SRT in the 11.7-11.8 range as Im sure you know...Just seem to me it should be a bit quicker given its advantages over the old cars....

Yep! John Myrick has the fastest time I've ever seen reported for a bone stock SRT-10 (11.86). I have the fastest for a stock SRT-10 with only K&N filters (11.78). Keep in mind, the MT 11.77 run was using a factory test mule, and not a production car, so who knows how it was configured. Don't forget to post your times in the VCA records area. My timeslip on this run can be seen on the following thread:

The GTS ACRs without the comfort package were roughly the same weight as the SRT-10 Vipers, and most of the early Gen II Vipers were far underrated, some actually getting close to 500HP (crank), with the SRT-10s having about 520HP-535HP (crank). Combined with the taller tires it would explain how close the times are between the better GenII and the GenIII tests. Plus there were 5 years of testing of the GenII Vipers, compared to only 2 years of testing on the SRT-10 Vipers. The power difference can be seen in the consistantly higher trap speeds of the SRT-10s. The GenII Vipers were already traction limited with all of the car's torque, and the SRT-10 Viper didn't have an easier job, getting even more power to the ground with it's taller, run-flat tires.

I recently did a 12.22 with my '04 SRT-10. It only has 700 miles on the odometer, and this was the first time in almost 10 years at the strip. I believe mine will improve greatly after it gets broken in a little more and I practice at home with the tree to cut a better light.

My light weight SRT has ran a 7.92 stock engine no gear change. I've done several more mods since then, but have not ran it again. I'm going to the track next week. 1/8 mile's all we have here, but the 7.92 would put me in the 11's I'm pretty carfull on that third gear shift.

The temp was 95 degrees at the time. The track was very poor since it was test and tune night, and it's well known this is the worst time of the week for good traction.

Skip,

I agree with your estimates. I ran several runs at 7.9 in the 1/8 last time I was at the track, and the 1/4 mile times were 11.8/11.9 consistantly.
