1996 GTS (Canadian Export) Question.

All,

I have a quick question about my 96 GTS. The car is a Canadian Export (Quebec), all markings on the car are in English and French Canadian, all gauges are metric/Kilometers, etc, window sticker, sales documents, etc are in French Canadian.

The issue is that there is no information out regarding how many Canadian and overseas GTS were built the first year of GTS production. I have inquired on multiple sites and not one other 96 GTS (Canadian or overseas) export has surfaced. I am sure that mine is not the only one out there, but I feel that there may have only been a small handful.

Can you please share with me any and all information that you may have as to how to answer this particular question? Long story short, how many GTS were built for export to Canada and Overseas in 1996?

I have been inquiring for the last few months if there are any other 96 GTS (Canadian) out there and have not received a single response from another 96 GTS owner. It seems that the build numbers for 96 and 97 GTS EXPORTS have never been tracked down (if they have, that information has not hit the surface just yet), I am making a point in saying that I feel the numbers for both years are extremeley low. I am also making a plea in asking that if anyone has actually tracked that information down... please share.

GTSbud has a b/w 96/97 GTS in Alberta. Since the GTS came into being so that the Viper could be raced and sold in Europe (hardtop and rear exhaust) it would make sense that quite a few went to Europe. One site I saw listed only 600+ Vipers sold to Canada by '06. I think there's more than that bought and imported into Canada than actually sold here.

Well you just found another 96 B&W GTS, I live just outside of Toronto.

Looking at the International Viper Registry it seems that there were NO GTSs built for sale in Canada during 96 & 97.

GTSbud has a '97 Blue/w Venom 550. That's rare.

There were Canadian spec cars built in 96 and 97, there are a few here in ottawa that I have seen and some over the years on autotrader.ca, all Canadian specs.

To get a documented number who knows I was trying to find that out years ago when I bought my 2000 Rt/10 one of only 99 in my colour combo, so far I have found three canadian spec versions of mine, mine being a US model.

Latest information is... no new information. My car was ordered late 1995 and actually delivered late 1996, first owner was a man named Michel Pilon, whom I understand is pretty famous. I "Googled" his name and it popped up all kinds of stuff. I have all of the documentation on it as well, window sticker, bill of sale, owners manuals, etc.

Not that I would really give a $hit if it was an American car, but mine is built to Canadian spec...daytime lights, speedometer in km/hr etc..... Again, you are not alone young Padawan.
