OK, here is my input. Doesn't matter what brand; but, what is desired is higher ZDDP levels rather than lower. (Zinc/Phosphorus compound for lubricity).
Mobil 1 publishes their levels, and Mobil 1 0W-40 or 20W-50 have high ZDDP levels. That's why many use Mobil 1 0W-40 in their Vipers, or 20W-50 if doing some track time. The highly respected VCA member who was in the industry suggested these products and also recommended diesel oil formulation for its high ZDDP.
Now, the question that no one can answer is: Does the Viper engine need that much ZDDP ? Probably not, since lots of people use "whatever," and we don't see a lot of reports of failed engines. But we do hear about a spun bearing every once in a while.
