1996 OEM Battery Needed

Looking for a good 1996 OEM Battery. If you have one please let me know.
Yes i know i can put an Interstate, Sears, Walmart, Deka......But like to
keep all original....

If not..Does anyone make an OEM Style Battery like they do in the Muscle Car Hobby.....

Sears battery is a direct replacement. If you don't like the Sears stickers peel them off and pur your old stickers back on.

Something tells me, you could have your original battery redone. I'm sure someone has done this. You'll probably have too look at some other sites with older cars. Hemings might have a lead.

there is an old car battery company near Hudson, Ohio (Cleveland, Ohio) that sold replicas for collectors, either google or look in Hemmings, they used to advertise a lot in there....good luck...

Hi Frank....the batteries installed at the factory aren't available. The battery went in my 1996 when it was a couple years old and the only replacements from Chrysler were generic Mopar batteries. Nobody reproduces an exact replacement, either.

Those of us with early Vipers are stuck in a spot where the cars are too old for parts from the dealer...but not old enough for reproductions. Remember that in our winged car days?

I think your best bet is to find an old one...and if there is a way to have it rebuilt...do that.

In the end, at least the battery isn't visible when installed. Thinking out loud, that's a good reason to use a new battery that fits. A leaking battery would a huge mess that you might not notice until some real damage is done.

While I agree with trying to keep things "all original", there are things that I will always put in more modern stuff. Maintenance items like batteries, engine oil, etc are things I will always go with more-modern for safety and longevity's sake.

Matt, and 98912 I agree. That's why I use the proper Optima battery. It never leaks, and as long as you don't deep cycle it, they are very reliable. I do understand wanting the original battery. If it were me, I'd pull the OEM battery out and keep it if you still have it. Put an Optima in there, and if you want to sell the car down the road, you can give the next owner the old battery for originality sake. If the old battery is long gone, then put a post up in the classifieds looking for someone's old crusty battery, someone will have on for sure. Have you tried Tators, maybe he's got some old relics in the corner somewhere in his shop.

LOL I thought you wanted a OEM date coded battery for a resale purpose.

I placed a sears diehard in her today. Fired right up. Interstate Batteries here in Central PA are hard to come by.
Found a Jobber but he will not sell to me only to a dealer

Frank...count your blessings that Interstates are hard to get near you. My Lincoln just had it's 2nd Interstate fail in less than 24 months, each. My local shop stopped selling them and switched to Deka.

I am not a huge Interstate fan, I think the Sears gold with the 2 or 3 years warranty is the way to go....don't believe in the Optima's, etc....I thought you wanted an OEM battery....
