I know it's not the right forum, but I had to share here too...

I dynoed my '97 GTS for the first time today. It is essentially stock with a Borla exhaust, K&N filters, smooth tubes and 17,100 miles on the clock.

I made 3 runs, the best of which was 429.25 HP and 458.70 TQ. I thought this was pretty good for an essentially stock car, but how does this compare to everyone else with similar mods?

Well it sounds pretty on-target then for the mods that I have. More than anything I had a good time at the dyno shop today and fed my need for more power...came right home and started looking at Roe blowers and other new parts. :)

I had the same basic mods (borla, filters & smooth tubes) on my '97, but had also eliminated the cats. With those mods mine dyno'd 459hp/497tq on a Mustang dyno.

'97 GTS with smooth tubes, filters, and exhaust.

452rwhp/468rwtq 11.9@124mph

Dyno sheet below. First 2 runs were with SCT tunes from Roe. Third run was with what I thought was the stock PCM. Roe says the PCM has been modified.

It's good to see this chart. I wonder where ideal shift points would be? Maybe around 5,500 RPM's? I'm wondering where to set my shift light on my GTS when I set everything up. My Dyno may be a bit different (whenever I get my car dyno'd), no doubt, but this looks like a good "general GTS engine characteristics" chart to go by for now.

This is exactly what I was wanting to know. Thanks for the information.

Also, this was a on Dynojet dyno. The owner of the shop said that it will sometimes show a bit lower (but more accurate, according to him) numbers than a Mustang Dyno or other dyno setups.

Not trying to make any excuses for my numbers or downplay anyone elses...but is there any truth to this?

I had a 1997 GTS several years ago and I had it dynoed at Hot Rod Power Tour in 1999 and it dynoed 423 H.p and 469 lb torque. Mine was bone stock except smooth tubes and K&N Filters. It ran 7.80s 1/8th mi and 12.29 1/4 mi.I thought that was good, but all you guys are dynoing lots more then mine did.
(Just giving a little input to compare too) Merry Christmas every one....

In my experience, the Mustang Dyno will always dyno less than a DynoJet. One is not better than the other. They are just helpful to see how mods have helped, or hurt. Look at my last post. I was able to see that the SCT tunes were on the lean side, and were not helping. This was also confirmed at the track, where I ran several tenths and a few mph slower when on the SCT tunes.
