Hi all,

I'm looking at a 1998 GTS red w/ silver stripes. The selling dealer (Thomas Classics out of Akron, Ohio) claims that this car is 1 of only 11 made in this color combo in 1998. Does that sound right? 11 sounds like an odd number. The car is beautiful though, only 13K miles, clean carfax, etc. He also indicated that it has new tires on it. Is 13K miles a normal life expectancy for tires on a Viper?

Thanks for any help!

They're not common but I don't think they're that rare.

Nine more red/silver 98 posts and we'll know for sure.

How much is the dealer trying to hose, err... add on for the "rare" version?

LOL...His price seems pretty in line with what I've seen elsewhere for similar cars...

According to the records, that right! I happen to have a 98 GTS Red /w Silver stripes also BUT! I didn't find out until after I purchased it, it is not one of the 11. Someone had painted the stripes on and did a nice fine job of it. I found this out by contacting DC and had them send me a copy of my build sheet. It only indicates one color, PRN (Viper red Clear Coat)& QRNS (Viper Red Clearcoat. If it had the factory stripes you would find the code 6RS, If not, it was added. If the dealer has the orignal sticker, it may indicate two separate paint codes. Let me know, I would be interested in what you find out.

Thanks

Stripe alignment problems in early 1998. Mine was supposed to come with stripes but didn't. I don't know the #'s for striped cars in 98 but only 11 seems rare to me.

Any Dodge Dealer should be able to run the Vin in their computer and find out if it has two paint codes. As stated above two paint codes means it is one of the 11, one paint code means stripes are after market.

You do need to have the Vin run, as this is a very rare car, but most turn out to be aftermarket paint jobs. Get the Vin and take it down to your local Dodge Dealer or give me a call. Two paint codes and it will be a good find.

Re: 1999 GTS Black w/ Silver stripes and conolly option pretty Rare?

It is a rare black with both stripe and connolly option. Less than 30 built 8,400 miles. It has T&D roller rockers with chrome molly push rods,SVS billet trottle bodies with cold air package and K&N air filters,Mopar performance computer,Mopar/Borla exhaust. And all take off parts from the bolt ons. Even the original factory oil filter and paperwork for the car, window sticker, etc. The car is in excellent conditions as some IL. VCA members like Paolo Castellano, Gary Grube and Chuck Haskins can attest. Never raced not even auto crossed. I would like to sell it locally but if I have to sell it out of state I'll sell it as well, and for a fare market price transported enclosed as well. My asking price is $55,000. Really don't want to get rid of my baby "Darth" but I have to expand my business to better serve my customers and diversify my companys services.

Please email me your VIN.... I had a 98 with factory stripes. I wonder if you have my old car? I still have some original stuff for it.
