At first I didn't beleive it. Video tells all. Great runs and a great trap speed. These are great cars just have weak diffs for drag racing. I see you even took it fairly easy on your launch. You could probably still do better. Worthy of a HI FIVE

If the gen 4 did this why is the gen 5 so slow

This particular Gen 4 went this fast that day, with that driver, on that track. Density altitude, track prep, and driver skill will play a huge roll in E.T. Most 1/4 mile records are held at tracks with density altitude that goes well into the negatives. This same run at -1000 ft DA (my guess) is worth about .3-.5 seconds slower if done at sea level track in Florida on hot muggy day where density altitude is in the 3000+ ft range.

LOL, awesome Tony! There are a ton more in the Gen V section now.

What tech did you use to launch such as RPm and clutch release etc? Great 60ft's

Tire pressure was in the mid to high 20's, outside temps in the 40's. I drove around the water box, backed into the water puddle, put the car in 2nd gear, dropped the clutch in the water at 5500 rpm, and let the tires heat up (first gear clutch drop didn't build enough heat IMO) as I rolled forward, letting go of the gas as the tires started to hook. Most all of the low 11 second passes were when I slipped the clutch at 3000-4000 rpm. The smoke coming from the middle of the car in each pass was from the clutch :smirk:. The key is to find an RPM that the car doesn't bog when you are off the clutch, but doesn't make the tires spin. On the last pass, I thought I'd launch it a little bit higher and ride the clutch a tad bit more (thinking somewhere between 4000-5000 rpm launch). You can tell when I completely got off the clutch, as that's when the car broke loose in 1st gear. I honestly thought I just *****'d the whole run, and lazily shifted 1-2, but figured I'd see what I could trap after that. Imagine my surprise when he handed me the 10 second slip!!! My 1-2 shift is my weakest shift in the Viper (I lift the gas and use the clutch), my 2-3 is great (use the clutch, don't lift gas), and 3-4 is my favorite (jab clutch momentarily and slam it into 4th, never lifting on the gas). After 47,400 miles, the car still had it's original engine and transmission without any issues the entire time, so you guys should know these cars are damn impressive. That night of the pass, my car was literally almost out of gasoline, and the light came on as I was driving to the race track (before all of those passes). I limped the car to the gas station after this pass and put in almost 16 gallons.

Yep, this is the whole reason I attempted to even run a 10. I'm not a drag racer, I typically do highway runs with my buddies, TX2k, etc. We had a private track rental that summer, and I ran a 11.4 @ 122mph(?) on my first pass, in 90F+ weather, and we speculated if the weather would be better, the car would run better. Enter the whole banter about calculator racing/density altitude/Evan Smith being the best, blah blah blah. The night I went 10.93 @ 129.33 the weather was in the low 40's, and I also improved my 60' times. I have no doubt that you will see Gen V's in the 10's, and God willing, maybe I can do it in a 2013 when I get one. Good memories re-reading this thread.

Anytime you want to run him HEADS UP same day same track in a car NEITHER ONE OF YOU HAVE DRIVEN lets go .The loser must pay for all traveling expenses .People talk remember a few facts. Ford SVT can have any test driver in the world test their hi perf prototypes they choose him Ford Racing can have any driver in the world test their prototypes they chose him (last month he was in Georgia all week testing the prototype Super Cobra Jet Drag Car .Jach Roush could have any driver in the world run his car in the One Lap of America .Jack chose him and he won his class (The logic Roush used was Smith was a good enough road racer to hold his own and would dominate the drag portion of the tests .This is exactly what happened) .Hot Rod mag and Ford sponcer a mag test driver shootout the last 2 years no professional test driver in the world was within .5 seconds of him (that's why he holds virtually every drag record for stock production cars in the book not to mention 15 NHRA records )In this part case I have numerious Emails claiming the Viper had the mufflers deleted .Also why is the run being conducted on Nittos The answer is they grip better than the STOCK TIRES .Iam serious about the heads up challenge. Are you wiling to back up your mouth with your wallet Same day same track same car man trans neither driver has driven before .Evan ran 11.4 -11.2 in my Gen 4 without so much as sitting in the car before the run .(He ran those numbers with 0 seat time on a 75 degree day) You really missed your calling in life as guys like Roush and Ford should be paying you instead of him .

Ps Ill even go this far .John Coletti is the father of the Ford GT .Ill get you his e-mail. Email John and ask him specif why he spent 100k plus of Ford dev money to get a FGT prototype(20 engineers ) to Englishtown NJ .The test was a feasibility study regarding boost ratios -quarter mile times (basically how much boost do we need to run 10s reliability ect )Ask him why he chose Smith to drive the prototype ,you can even tell him about our little wager ,get his opinion ect.

Congrats bud! I think the blue w/ white stripes is the reason it runs so well.

I spoke with Evan Smith yesterday at SEMA here in Vegas. He seemed to move around quite well, despite having a grown man hanging on his *******. LOL

I mentioned 1BADGTS to Evan, he didn't know who I was talking about. Sad when your biggest fan is unknown :)
Really he didn't know yet he won 3 national Viper events driving my Gen 2 and has been involved with 10 or so tests regarding Vipers over 20 years that I have facilitated ,When I got VCA president Joe Houss Gen 2 put in a shootout with a Z06 he didn't know who I was .I was invited to his wedding yet he didn't know who I was .All over this thread is the fact that he ran 11.2 in my Gen 4 yet he didn't know who I was .When he invited myself and some NFL Alumni (along with the VCA PRES )to a private test session of the prototype FGT he didn't know who I was Numerious times I have asked Nine Ball to email me his number so Smith myself and him could talk on a three way yet no number .Hey this is a public forum the last thing Nine Ball wants is to be embarrassed on a phone conv I understand .Its easy to hide on a computer

One thing for sure. Mr. Smith, assuming he is normal and aware of your posts here and elsewhere, must be very embarrassed by your apotheosis of him. I do not think that anyone on this thread or any other thread disagrees with the view that Mr. Smith has a good skill set. What many appear to be responding to is a level of hero worship on your part that makes them uncomfortable.

Use a period [ . ] at the end of a sentence that makes a statement. There is no space between the last letter and the period. Use one space between the period and the first letter of the next sentence.

Why do you keep trying to set up bets when the other person isn't even aware of them? Back up my mouth with my wallet? I've backed up my mouth by going out there and doing it. :rolaugh: I could care less who uses him for what, something that you fail to realize. This all started because you believe if Evan can't do it, no one can, when the fact of the matter is, no one has bothered to try it (and it honestly isn't that big of a deal to anyone else). Almost any point you tried to make, I refuted, from being able to hook over 500whp on street tires, to running 10's in my 08 Viper. My time slip isn't much different than Jamie's so why are you so adamant that it's impossible? His car trapped slightly higher than mine, so it was probably making more power than mine, and our 60' times are very close. I've posted in this thread alone that the car had the mufflers removed, and that I LOST power. Also, my Nitto STREET TIRES had over 20,000 miles of use before this track outing. Have Evan go find a 2008 Viper making 530ish whp (what my car made the day after this pass) on 20,000 mile Nitto Invo's, and see if he can beat me. I've already proven myself with video and time slips, now it's your turn. Otherwise, I can't be bothered with your incessant rambling and repetitve posts. As of now, he can't do what I've already done.

Jason, you are responding wrong. Just copy/paste the Evan Smith graphic that I made. That is all that needs to be said.
