I won the first Viper 2008.5 ACR from the VCA raffle on Valentines Day. I should be able to pick it up before Easter if everything goes as planned. I'm still in shock and not sure if I'll keep it or sell it. My wife told me not to buy the 3- $100.00 raffle tickets so don't always listen to your wife. This car has been at the LA, Chcago and Detroit auto show's along with being on the cover of several publications.

if you sell it, how much would you want for it? are you taking offers? heres a question.....if you are not sure if you want it, why did you spend three hundred dollars to win it??

I would never sell such a car. That thing is a beaut. If you were to sell it, I would hold off as I am sure the value will go up.

If your car is the one that has traveled the autoshow circuit - you definitely dont want it - too many fingerprints on it - and should give it to me - I would be perfectly happy to reimburse you for your ticket purchase :D.

It looks INCREDIBLE in person. My son and I spent some time with it at the Chicago auto show and we both loved that car! No way would I sell it!

If you aren't going to track it, sell it! Its been run pretty hard already I think, so let it go to someone who will use it. It is not an appreciating asset. Not in our lifetimes, anyway. Just my 2c.:headbang:

Alot of people have done this for years. The odds of winning are actually very good, when considering there are only 2500 tickets sold. You spend a few hundred dollars and win a car that could be sold tomorrow for anywhere between $80-100k. Just depends on market and demand, but if you dont keep them, you can definatley make some cash. You just have to pay the tax on the winnings, probably around $35k out of pocket and then sell and make $50k.

Gosh, Ron---that is a BEAUTIFUL ACR!!! You SURE you would not keep it??? I hear ya though...around our area (which is why we didn't even buy tickets, we didn't want to win it when someone else who could REALLY run it could win!!)....it's just not driveable...so not feasible. Whatever decision you make, and certainly it's a personal one...good luck, and congratulations again on the win!!!! There will be NO other like it out there...will be a collector's DREAM. ~juli

Well!!!! :omg: Guess she's not a 'car-fanatic' as some of US women here on the forums are?
Cus if she were, I'm sure she'd love to have some input! Some of us women DO love cars, and happier than a pig in **** to just be around them~~~! LOL....:drive:

Congrats on winning!! Here's a great deal for ya....you paid $300.00 for the tickets....and about $28k for the taxes, so you're into it for about $28300.00 +/-.........how about $30k and a nice Coach purse with matching wallet for your wife? (hehehe)

Aaron

ok, now i see why you may not want to keep it. if the taxes are that high. i was thinking they would be about 8,000.00 dollars. you could re-auction it for charity and get the tax break.

She could care less about cars. After I broght a Lamborghini Gallardo she was complaining about all my sports cars. I sold a beautiful 02 Viper GTS and brought her a new Mercedes that she said she wanted just to make her happy. Well she never drives the Mercedes and drives her Dodge Caravan instead. At least I recently found a great deal on an 02 ACR to replace it. I love cars and I spend a lot of time detailing and working on my cars. She's always complaining about it. It's what I like to do and she needs to quite complaining. I don't complain we she does the things she like to do. I'm sure if she like cars she wounldn't be complaining but she don't. Maybe you can talk some sense into her Juli.

LOL--Gary...you KNOW that a perfect stranger could never talk 'sense' into someone who just does NOT have that passion that you do; and that Mike & I do...CARS!!! Amazing collection you've had already with the Gallardo...with the 02 GTS...you SOLD to buy a Mercedes...you say to make her happy? That's sad...that does not make her happy...I'm sure you can find common ground somewhere; RESPECT is the issue as I always say! Have her PM me if she DOES wish to talk, I'd LOVE to talk to her~~she's VERY welcome to post also, or PM if she prefers privacy...I'd keep her confidences! :eater: ~juli

Thanks Julie, my wife would never go on a car forum. She does go on garden and plant forums if you like that kind of thing. We get along great but when it comes to cars we are in different worlds. I know I'm a sports car nut and I admit it. Besides the ACR and Lambo I have a couple of other sports cars. Gary

That's too bad, I'd love to talk to her...tho it'd probably be about CARS :D...no, I'm not into garden/planting! I'm glad you get along with your respective hobbies/interests...Mike & I are lucky in that we have VERY similar interests in life....and we are sports car nuts as well...feel free to PM me, let me know what other cars you have!! We have the '05 BLACK Viper w/mods; the '08 436hp paddle-shifting Vette (SOOOO fun!); an '08 Hayabusa 1300GSX-R; '04 Ford Ranger 4x4; Freightliner FL70....last 2 being NON-sports cars, LOL!
Hey, as long as you and your wife get along, what does anything else matter??? ~juli
