Just did this tonight. Car has 450 miles. Wondering if it's bogus. Was playing with the launch
control and on this particular run it didn't engage (my error) and i dumped the clutch at almost the
limiter. Was on concrete 4 lane highway but still glazing the tires and bogged after shifting into
2nd gear.....lifting before a full quarter mile.

Let me know if anyone has seen bogus times from the onboard computer. Do these work from
wheelspeed or some type of GPS? If wheelspeed then i could understand if spinning the tires
could see 60mph considerably quicker then the car.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

the 1/8 and 1/4 numbers seem plausible, not sure what it uses to generate the numbers.

Mine is showing 2.5 sec, only because I missed launch control and got lots of wheel spin. Stopped the run at about 60 ft when it started to go sideways, so it's definitly wheel speed and not real speed.

To be honest, that makes the feature completely pointless. It would never give a decent number, ever. Really bad thought process on that one if you ask me.

Tom,
I always thought you were a better driver than a 12.5 in the 1/4 mile..................................

Time to add BTR Nitrous setup...............................................:D :D

Curious what sensors are measuring. If front wheel versus drivetrain/rear wheel would that solve this problem?

Is it the same stupid method I heard they put on the SRT Challenger? (Rear wheel based) If so, that's really disappointing.

If it were rear tire based, it'd be way faster than a 2.8, it,takes a fraction of a sec for the rear wheels to break lose and spin to 60. Since every other ET looks to me that's a 0-60 ft time, would also make sense for the slow ET on quarter mile, bad 60ft equals bad 1/4 time.

Must be clarified in the manual, yes?

It's tire based for sure. Went out to play today and got a 1.1 sec to 60 mph today after a small burnout. Then tried a quarter mile and after the car bogged off the line it got-up and got a 12.2 sec at 124

LoL, well if that's not the dumbest thing I've seen I don't know what it is. 0-60 measure with the car then is pretty much useless, I guess not that it matters really, but so lame it's just funny.

I'm going to go out at lunch & see if my '14 GT500 does this too. I've never used all the apps and gagdets on the car other than LC. I'm just interested if other cars take this lame approach.

If the system is anything like my little windshield mouted accelerometer it can use them to determine the speed. It just watches the acceleration over time and calculates the speed. Pretty sure the Viper has accelerometers built in since it does the G reading output. Curious why they would go with wheelspeed over the accelerometer for the performance data stuff. That or I'd think it would at least use both of them as a check to average or something.

To anyone who isn't aware.

LEE HAS NOT AND WILL NOT RESIGN! In fact, he has now removed from office and banned anyone who has been actually having open discussions with anyone else. This includes Randall, Maurice, and probably Tony by the time I write this. He is cleaning house of anyone and everyone who knows his shady dealings, instead of stepping down like he originally said. NOTHING will be changing at the VCA except the fact that the VCA is OVER. Lee has gone completely rogue and is doing everything possible to shut anyone up who knows anything. The problem is, A LOT of NEW information is flowing on the other Viper sites. After these current moves, you can be 100% sure that there are some really bad things that they cannot afford to have known, and the relationship with Chrysler/SRT is 100% dead (I'm sure they have already been made aware of Lee's latest dictator moves).

I URGE YOU TO CONTACT YOUR LOCAL PRESIDENTS IMMEDIATELY AND GET THE FULL STORY (OF WHAT HAS BEEN RECENTLY DONE) AND TELL THEM THAT YOU 100% EXPECT THEM TO WITHDRAW FROM THE VCA AT THIS VERY MOMENT! There are already additional directors and founding VCA officers resigning and cutting ties (and not with very good language to Lee either).

Please check the other sites and see for yourself. If anyone needs to reach me after this, I go by the same user name on the other sites. Something tells me I will not have access to this site within a few minutes of posting this.

I don't think rear wheel speed is used to determine 0-60. Otherwise on the initial launch when the RPMs are holding at 6k and the wheels are spinning like crazy the system would register a 0-60 time of 0.1 seconds. My bet is either front wheel speed or an accelerometer.

Guys, it's wheelspin based so it's not accurate. Get a G-Tech for accurate readings. Ford does the same thing in the Mustang, but because you need to be in 2nd or 3rd gear to hit 60, their's is more accurate.

Mustangs need to be in 3rd gear to hit 60 eh? So do they shift out of 1st at 25 and out of second at 50 or how does that work?

I just did a few 0-60 blasts in my buddy's 2013 5.0 last week. Was at the top of 2nd gear shifting into 3rd when passing 60, stock rear end. 1st goes to about 38mph, and 2nd just about tops off at under 60. I was able to pull off a best 0-60 of 4.6 seconds with an average of 4.7 seconds.

I tought my pic of a 1.1 sec 0-60 mph (on Post # 14) would convince everybody that it's wheel speed, but I guess I was wrong
