2001 - New car?

I need to clear up two arguements

1. Let's assume a dealer has a 2001 Viper, never sold, never titled. If you buy it, is it like buying a new car with a factory warranty like a 3 year / 36K mile bumper to bumper?

2. Is there some locator system that would tell me if a 2000 Steel Grey RT/10 or a 2001 Sapphire RT/10 is at a dealer "new"?

Item #1: Correct, as far as I know. I bought my 97 GTS which had an inservice date of 10/99 and therefore was under the "new car waranty". At the end of the 3 year new car warranty, you can extend the warranty and get the better extended warranty!

just go to any dodge dealer tell them what you want. they will do dealer search and entired system and see what is out there still new.

I bought my new 2002 ACR and it came with 7 years/70k miles warranty because I bought it in 2003. I did not have to pay for this extended warranty! You can use CarFax to check the title. Good luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong:

I believe the answer is it depends what the "in service date" is. In other words, if the dealer never assigned the car to a buyer, and you are the first buyer, then the in service date would be today.... then the warranty starts today.

I've heard of members buying 1992 RT/10's in 95 or 96 and still getting their full 3 year warranty, as part of their standard manufacturers warranty.

The "inservice date is the key" and the dealer holds it.
When they put it into the system, the ball starts rolling.

The "Nelson Group" of dealerships had Greg Nelson's private Viper collection of 21 "new" untitled Vipers for sale, the last issue of Viper magazine still listed 12 remaining, all on MSO, EVEN 2 93's. Also have seen a few "on MSO" cars on autotrader, so they are still out there.

Craig I think I got the second to last Sapphire. The last one I believe has been sold by Nelson.

As for the warranty issue, the warranty starts when you BUY the car, not when it was made. I know someone that got a 1994 and just titled it, and the warranty JUST started. Nice deal.

As for the system locater, a dealer can run a search for you through their computers.

It is my bad call, it is a yellow with black stripes, shows as Ronnie Robinson Dodge, Green Cove Springs, Florida.

95, glad you rescued your car from here, we still have a new red 2003 sitting here. For some reason we don't move alot of Vipers here.
