I recently found a 2001 RT for sale on craigslist. Here is the post.

"...only 10,500 original miles, mint condition hard top and soft top, 6 speed, 530 h.p always garaged, $42,500 O.B.O"

I plan to check this out, but ASSUMING it checks out, is this a fair price?

Thanks for the input.

530 HP probably means there are some performance mods. This could be good or bad depending on what you want and who did what to the car.
How many owners?
How old are the tires?
Overall condition of car?
Color of the car?

Whenever an ad states "original miles", my BS detector starts to move.

Without knowing more details, hard to say if this is a good price or not.

Of course, yellow cars are worth more. :)

All good info CEJ, I see this is your first post so listen to the guys on here before you rush out & buy a Viper(have you ever driven one)Definitely not like Anything you've ever driven before. I know exactly how you feel but better to be safe than sorry. There is so much info to consider on these cars that you wouldn't normally think about on a regular car. When I was looking I only wanted one under 10k miles & 1 owner. But just because it's only had 1 owner doesn't mean that 1 owner took care of it. You can find Plenty of good Vipers out there with good prices, just take your time & do your homework. Like CEJ said if they did some hp mods it was for a reason, not necessarily meaning they hot-rodded it. Is it an individual or dealership selling it, either way check out their history with past transactions. I could go on & on, just do your homework & listen to the guys on here before you jump to any conclusions. Just my .02 & Good Luck!

Not an expert but high 30's or even 40 would be OK if the car checks out. I don't think you can get to 530 RW with headers and smooth tubes so the mods probably involve cam and some headwork....or forced induction. All those mods are fine IF they're done correctly. Have it checked out...it might be a good one or.....

Forgot to answer your original question but $42.500 is definitely on the high side. Maybe mid to high 30's but also depends on what mods they did & who did them. Find out who did them & call them if you can.

A fine year and color!

But....like the others said...review all of the documentation carefully to understand what has been done to it. Inspect the soft top for damage, tires, A/C charge, and everything else that you may "think" is in good shape but may add up in the end.

I have been doing my homework and will definatly check out the car, I just haven't had the chance to see it yet. I plan to find out the history of owners, maintenance, mods and I will post back when i get all that.
but assuming if it is relatively clean, good history, solid work, is $42500 fair? I've looked around and I get the feeling that it is a bit high. any other input?

I think that is on the high side and the owner probably does to with his OBO.
That said, if it has headers, name brand exhaust and any other goodies he's not way off. If you purchased those two items without installation you would be spending what ? Close to three grand...maybe with that power "qoute" it also has roller rockers. Figure those three and install and you are looking at $5,000 plus. Granted, mods are not worth that already installed BUT if you had a car without them and then wanted them you would be spending $$$
The hard top is a nice plus $$$ too.
Color ? Red is probably worth a little less unless that is your favorite color......don't tell the seller though ;)

You need to get us more info on the exact mods, tire condition....pretty much what everyone else has said.
Without more info I'm thinking 40k or less. Start at 37k if it's very nice. Cash in hand talks....lots of Viper sellers deal with BS so you need to let him know you are a serious buyer.

Its sapphire blue. Good point about pricing with the mods. I'll look for that.
