Respectfully, I don't appreciate your post. I had someone look for a value for my car about a year and a half ago and then used lowball numbers quoted on here by supposed experts to attempt to screw me out of value on my car. You may ask how that can be accomplished but believe me, it is real.

If you are not interested in buying the car, then I would suggest others on this board to not post values that may hurt another member of the board, especially if there is no buying potential on the part of the poster. I am not saying that you are a bad person, but all this can do is hurt another member or seller.

If I posted lowball numbers on your house and everyone joined in on the site and did the same, it will cost the you market traffic and a potential sale. That is not fair to the owner.

I only wanted to get a basis for what prices are on vipers...Salvage title VS. non-salvage. Its not unfair to ask people who own these cars what there opinions are on prices, I can't control what there opinions come out to be!

Somewhere out there someone is going to ask someone else what they would pay for a particular item.

I do understand that pretty soon it will come back to bite you in the butt though, if you start telling everybody that vipers are worth 10K, pretty soon your own viper is going to be worth 10K no matter what the condition is!

There is always a middle ground. I just wanted some input from people with some experience. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from:) I don't want to get ripped off because i dont have a clue about values, but I don't want anybody's car to be devalued from comments posted on this site...I wouldn't want that for my car either!

We do understand where you are coming from. You are looking to waste someone's time and gas driving their viper when you have no intention to buy. :omg:

I hope he turns you down, a good reason most high end car owners won't allow test drives. Too much risk and crap like this.

Value of the car? More than you can afford (obviously). That's all that matters.

I'm sorry there are people out there that have such a bad attitude about this subject. I never intended to low ball the guy, all I wanted was truthful imput! If people said they were worth 50K that's great, I don't care, I just wanted input! I would never force him to let me drive it!!! I would have been vary nice and honest and told him, I'm not looking to buy now but that I have a mutual intest in vipers and have never ridden in one and never driven one and if he has no intrest in talking to me than I'm fine with that. I would give someone that respect! If it were me I would be glad to share my knowladge with someone that was mutually interested in in these wonderful cars. Sorry to those that are offended, but I will own a viper someday...:2tu:

Come on man...I got more than that for trade-in on my 2001 ACR. That may be what YOU would pay, but the cars are worth more than that.

You guys that think these cars should priced like Geo Metros are the Viper Nation's worst enemy. Keep saying that pristine, last model-year cars should be worth rock bottom prices and eventually, your car will be worth rock bottom prices.

You need to be talking the prices UP, not DOWN. Believe it or not, the discussions on this forum DO influence the price of these cars.

OK...i get were your coming from...Cherry 2002 ACR...with less than 10K miles..Since it is the last one....And if it was yellow with black stripes..

I would go as high as 40K..

But no matter how much more you twist my arm thats the highest I could go...

Their was a time I would have been willing to spend much more..But after going from a 99 to a 2003..I just couldnt spend to much on a gen 2 these days:omg:

Beautiful cars though...:2tu:

You're getting grief from people because your original post made it sound like you were gathering information so that you could go see this guy and pass yourself off to him as a legitimate shopper so that he'd let you drive his car. That would very un-cool.

I've been around this site for 5 years, a Viper owner for four. I can tell you undoubtedly that Viper owners as a whole are a very friendly group of people, so while you may not get an offer to drive one, you could easily post here to find an owner/club member in your area that would take you for a ride and show you around the car. You won't find many owners who are willing to let a stranger with unknown driving skill drive their Viper. Search this forum for crashes at the hands of people who don't know what 400+ ft-lbs of torque at 1500 RPM with no traction control is all about to see why. Point is, if you have to lie to a seller to motivate them into taking that risk, which is what it sounded like you were planning on, then you probably shouldn't do it? If that's not your intention, then sorry, but that's what your original post made it sound like.

So FYI, there are 43 users on this board who have MN listed in their profile as their state of residence. There are probably a bunch more who just don't have their profile filled out completely. You should find out where they meet, get in touch with them, and see if you can get a ride. When you become an owner, the wait to drive one will have been worth every second.

Good luck.

Everybody has their own opinion. I'm just saying that yours is not at all realistic except maybe for the rare "must sell" cases. But those don't reflect the true value of the car. Have you looked in the classifieds? Even regular GTS's are going for mid-40's or better.

I'm sorry for my first post!!! I just want everyone to know I had no intention offering a low ball offer and driving his car around all afternoon. I should have worded it much better than I did...so I'm sorry! I'm a honast guy who loves cars to!! I do hate those kind of people and I'm sorry I came across as one! It was more or less to be two questions seperate from each other...what are values of GTS-ACR's... and if I emailed the guy and told him my intrest in vipers would he let me see it and (only mabie!!) drive it, if not tottaly fine!

How would I go about searching for local viper owners on the forum? Or should I just put a post out there asking my intrest in visiting with someone in MN that owns one.

Thanks, sorry to make people mad...not my intention!

Now you're on the right track! As an enthusiast, you can't post in your regional forum (VCA Members only), so you have three choices.

1. Post in the RT10/GTS section that you are a huge fan of the car and would just like to go for a ride in one. Someone close enough to Blaine may hook you up. You man need to meet them half-way or something. Be prepared to drive a bit if it's important to you.

2. Go into the regional forum and scope out a few guys that seem to be close to you and send them a PM to see if they'll help you out.

3. Go to Viper Club of America and contact the president of your region and see if he can refer you to someone.

A little story for you. Back in something like 2001, I posted on one of the Viper boards about potentially buying a Viper. I worked for a dot-com at the time, and we were on the brink of an IPO that would have made purchasing a Viper a reality. A guy with a B/W GTS responded and we got together and went for a spin and he showed me around the car. He offered to let me drive it, but as my luck sometimes goes, I forgot my wallet when I left the house (I was a tad excited) and had no drivers license, so I painfully declined.

The dot-com went belly-up (didn't they all), so that put things on hold for awhile. I went through a couple of different cars over the next few years, but on my birthday in the summer of 2006, I bought my first Viper. That day stuck with me and kept me motivated to own one someday. Point is, if you really love the car, reach out to an owner and let them fuel your enthusiasm. If it's in the cards for you to own one, you'll look back at that day with a smile on your face, and you will for sure get to meet a very nice person in the process. Just be up front about it and don't 'steal' something that's way better earned.

Good luck, and keep the dream alive.

Kelly
