2002 gts gas cap/cover corrosion

Just purchased a 2002 viper gts !!! The gas cap/cover has some corrosion on it,has anyone had this problem?How to fix?Chrome it and or powdercoat?

Chrome is the easiest way to address it. You can take it off, strip the clear coat and polish also.

California Chrome can chrome it for $150 but you need to disassemble it which can be tricky (and there's a good chance of damaging one of the pins that hold it together)

any idea how to get the pins out?

I never took mine off just cleaned it up on the car took some time to get all the clear coat off but looks good !!!!

I had the same problem on my first Viper; a 2002 GTS ACR.
The clear coat on the gas cap was already starting to flake off when the car had a mere 50 miles on it.
