I thought it was ironic that the new Viper gets rid of the curves/lines and the concept Vette is bringing them back.

Assuming you're talking about the drawings in the latest Road & Track, they're hideous, and imo the SRT-10 looks wonderful by comparison (and no, I don't like the SRT). I agree with the RX-8 comment--I thought the same thing.

I guess I just like the curved lines on the Vette that the Viper lost. But if someone were to hand me one of the two cars, I'd still take the Viper.

IMO using BMW and Mercedes are not a good examples ...

In the early 1970s BMW had the 3.0CS and Mercedes had the 280SL and the 280SE 3.5 CONVERTIBLE...All of these cars are considered ultra collectible and timeless classics! They demand hugh prices when sold! They often bring $40,000-$80,000! 4-5 times their original sale price!

Don't we all hope that or Vipers will do the same!

Later on BMW had their ultra exotic M-1 and the 635 and Mercedes had the 560SEC, also considered great looking.

Currently BMW has their AMAZING LOOKING Z-8 (400+ horsepower) and Mercedes has the new SL600 V-12 "SPORT" with 435 horsepower!

Surprisingly my 13 year old son said he likes the looks of the BMW Z-8 better than my Viper...

Now if you really want to discuss a truely amazing ultra high performance classic! Look at the 1970 Toyota Corolla!

Have you guys seen the new Dodge commercial with the cars coming out from under the bridge?

I saw the Viper and at first I thought it was an RT/10... then I realized (only after rewinding several times) that it WAS an SRT-10.

The people who don't like the SRT are so unwilling to conceive of any scenario where they might actually see some attraction to the car that they simply dismiss it unconditionally. Now we're saying the new Vette looks like the SRT-10? Puhleaze. Soon we'll be saying it looks like the new Beetle and the Aztec (which some have already said). It's like trying to win an argument by saying "you're a fat head and you smell funny".

Anyways, the guy who designed the SRT is also the same guy that penned the GTS/R prototype and the Comp Coupe. If you think those cars are ugly too and hideous and a betrayal of all that is Dodge, then that's one thing. If you like the others but not the SRT, then you are simply a hypocrite.

Saw an SRT coming my way about a week or so ago. Definitely read Viper at first glance. As it drove past, a few of the traits that aren't necessarily my cup 'o tea became apparent. Have stated once or twice in the past that the new car is far from a steamin' chunk design-wise. But a fair bit of the original's uniqueness is gone which, for me, is less-than-good. Oh, and toss me in the hypocrite category, as the coupe prototype (which I like, if wing-less) maintains a lot more of the original's design equities than the SRT, IMO. Am with those who'd have preferred the performance gains on a less-altered shape.
