2006 Gen 3 Coupe questions

I'm looking at upgrading to a 2006 Gen 3 coupe. My question is. How hard or easy is it to make 600hp to the ground N/A? Secondly is the engine already forged (crank rods and pistons). Whats the max amount of boost that the engine can hold with out having to break it open to replace pistons and rods?

600 rwhp NA would require ported heads and intake manifold, cam, longtube headers, crank pulley, etc.. Can get expensive quick.

Rods and pistons are not forged. 700 rwhp is highest "safe" boost level, with safe tuning. Basically what the Paxton kit delivers, about 650 rwhp out of the box.

How much are paxton kits going for? And at 650, what kinda 1/4 mile times we talking about?

Full Paxton can be had for 6-9k if you look hard enough. A few guys selling used once in awhile. 650whp in a Viper should get you into 10's easy depending on gears, tires and driver ability.

Ported heads/intake, cam, lifters, and pushrods, crower rockers, headers/exhaust, upgraded throttle body, intake will yield about 620-640 rwhp and cost a tad less than the Paxton.

Most Paxton Gen 3 cars trap 132-135 mph in the 1/4 mile, in decent weather. The only thing I'd recommend is buying the "tuner" version of the kit, to get the hard parts. Skip the crap-tastic external fuel system parts, and the canned box tuning. Do a real fuel system with in-tank pumps and get custom SCT tuning done on a dyno. BIG difference in terms of throttle response, drivability, and performance. The full Paxton kit with the external auxiliary fuel pumps is garbage. People out there driving around on those kits don't know what they are missing.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it. Im just trying to get all my ducks in a row so I know what to expect when I jump out there. I agree with Nine Ball, I have the boost a pump setup with a kenne bell on my charger, and I think if I scrapped that and went with in tank pumps it would be better. Are there any vendors here that are good for forged short blocks? How much are they going for?

Forged shortblocks range from $9-15K, depending on parts and upgrades, or if you stick with stock main caps or billet mains. I used Late Model Engines, here in Houston, for mine.
