2008+ Clutch Questions

Did some searching, didn't find the information I was looking for.

How much rwhp/tq has the 08+ dual-disk clutch been proven to hold so far? Anyone push them hard yet, despite the lack of blower/turbo kits for Gen 4?

Will this factory dual-disk clutch and flywheel fit my '06 engine, considering I already bought the '08+ bellhousing and TR6060 trans.

OE clutches on ACR-X Road racing have shown 'decent' endurance over the long haul.....after 2 seasons. The 2010 series champ ran one OE clutch all season long. Practices, qualifying, races. STANDING STARTS ! Some guys are harder on clutches, see or smell a race start!

OF two aftermarket options..one rated at 900 ft-lbs; 1 at 1100 ft-lbs. {As Kurt Busch switched to} 8lbs lighter....

Jon, will the '08 dual disk and flywheel bolt right up to my '06 engine? I have the 2010+ TR6060 and bellhousing to install. I'm just unsure about the crank bolt pattern, starter tooth pattern, etc..

Nice project and good questions. In short "No" the 2008' to 2010' flywheel clutch assembly won't work. Anything can be modified, but precision machining and rotating mass is to critical in my opinion to chance. The Gen 4 OE flywheel clutch assembly was never meant to run in a full race environment for extented periods of time for several reasons inherent in it's design, but makes for a good spirited driver.
Have fun with your TR6060 close ratio gear box upgrade!:D

My name isn't Jon either, but so far it looks like people have bolted this up.

Other posts elsewhere confirm this, but a call to mjorgensen should clear it up. I know I swapped a 6060 into my old Cobra with an RPS twin disk and had a blast. Would consider it on the Viper if a reason ever came up.

The 900-1100 ft-lb product DOES bolt-up to a Gen 3.

Jon, are those the two Spec clutches listed on your site? How is chatter on the 1100 ft-lb setup?

Anyone know the pricing of the OEM 2008-10 dual-disk? I've yet to price one. Nobody has any info on the torque capability of these?

I'm not sure exactly what is going on with the stock Gen 4 clutch, but it does have some sort of flaw. Mine was very eratic in shifting and I even had some slipping issues. Hardest I ever ran it at the drag strip (3 separate times, stock tires) was a 1.8 second 60 foot time at 11.55 second ET. I purposely left soft as to not go below the 11.50 second rule and get kicked out. I've done about 5 autocrosses and the rest is spirited driving...again all on stock tires. I replaced the clutch with the BBG unit and the difference is night and day in shifting. The car revs a little faster and has better compression braking due to the lighter weight. Another thing I noticed is when pushing the car hard at the top rpms in 1st through 3rd gear the car is still "pulling"....before it would sort of wind out right to the rev limiter. Sounded very fast but now looking back at it and comparing it to the new clutch, I think I was getting slipping at max power. I wish I had some sort of data logger to verify this, and for me stuff is happening pretty fast at those rpms, so like I said, I thought I was pulling hard.

Just to clarify, there is only one replacement clutch that is tested and authorized by Dodge for the Viper Cup race series in the ACR-X and that is the BBG unit. Since every winner this season has been running it, I would be highly suspect of the stock clutch for "spirited" or higher horsepower adventures.
