A little eavesdropping about the Edmunds article on the Corvette Forum. Looks like reality is setting in for them: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1794413
New colors for '08
o Viper Violet (sort of a dark metallic iris color, almost like the Sapphire color)
o Venom Red (metallic maroonish color)
o Snakeskin Green (metallic lime green)
o Viper GTS blue
o B5 Blue (light metallic blue)
o Viper red (the regular solid red color)
o Viper orange (solid orange)
o Black
Stripe colors are white, silver, or charcoal. There will NOT be a GTS blue w/white or a Red w/white combo offered as those were supposed to be limited editions (First Edition and VCA Edition coupes).
This should result in 30 possible paint schemes, plus 3 wheel options = EVERY '08 WILL BE A RARE COMBO!
I can understand why the torque below 4000 is less than the genIII engine due to the variable valve timing. My question is do you think it will be noticeable? ...I love the instant power at mid range on my current car.
I wonder about the PROGRAMMING of the fly-by-wire accelerator.
When older Vipers tap the loud pedal, a cable hard-wires the result.
My cynical older self sees Uncle Sam's big brother (I call him Skip Shifty) protecting us from 600HP by moderating the acceleration. Will WOT happen when I want? Or when Skippy wants?
DAN CRAGIN, you flasher you....... get your programmer thinking about how to make the fly-by-wire throttle fly faster.......
