Car has 12k miles on it though. Still a major beating from new but seems in line with today's discount pricing. Definitely a buyers market, at least if you are buying outright and not trading anything in.

I believe I read this car was a "press vehicle" which means it probably did take a beating...or two, or three. Yes, just looked again...it reads "If you can't read the tags it says National Press Fleet Vehicle so it probably is one of the cars used in the print ads".

Is this the same car that was posted a while back that had the SSG wheels on it also? It's from same dealer.

This Viper would be a great driver at a great price. As long as you can get an extended warranty. The car was just used for Press shots and has had no more abuse than most of our driver cars are subjected to. As a collector car, it has some provenance and would have a history that would make it special. Buy the car, save all the articles and video of it for the future. It is a very low VIN which helps. Meantime, drive the heck out of it, enjoy the car.

Is that what the dealer told you? Cars get trailed if they are going on location, the don't drive them there. This car was given to journalists and has probably been a test car in a number of magazines. I'd bet this viper has a few thousand very hard miles on a track. Quote Road and Track October '07 "a venom red viper spins in the kink (VIR) at over 130 mph. All that's seen for 800 feet is a haze of tire smoke. The driver escapes with tires flat-spotted to the cords."

Mike, it think it may be semi-famous, dug out old magazines this morning. I'll bet this viper is the cover car from the October '07 Road and Track. Additionally 4 page test with lot's of pictures. That viper had razor wheels. Mike

I misread the issue of viper mag I guess. Summer 2008. Vin. 1b3jz69z08v200049 was an SRT engineering car that "could go to auction at a future date." but "it will more than likely be crushed due to it's rough life it will live." I just figured they would do this with all the press cars for the same reasons. Oh well. If you can buy it...get it and drive the hell out of it!! :drive:

I disagee, they sell every (non-totalled) SRT event car in closed auctions to Chrysler dealers. They've done that since the SRT events started.

FYI - I checked out this car for a VCA member earlier in the week. I enjoyed this car. If someone is considering it seriously, please let me know and I'll find out if the guy who I checked it out for is going to buy it. If not, then I'll give you the skinny.
