This quote was taken from a guy I know on the Cuda / Challenger board. He's been around a few years and has always been a striaght shooter. Just thought you guys might want to hear what is being said....
"I had a conversation with a Diamler-Chrysler engineer yesterday, talked about the new Challenger.
From what he's heard, here's whats going on.
Cars should start rolling off the line in January-Feburary of 2008, with them hitting the dealers by March. There will be a SXT model with either a V-6 or a 4.8 V-8. The first hemi R/T's will be all autosticks. The SRT-8's will be the 6.4 Hemi's putting out 500-505 HP. The story right now is the manual trans is still up in the air, he said there is a faction that wants only autosticks, and another wants the 6 speeds. He's backing the 6 speed availability.
The viper owners wont be happy about a V-8 putting out as much HP as their V-10's, so the new V-10's will get 650 HP, with a possible forced induction option adding another 100-150HP!
This car is a definate GO, and it will be as close to the show car as they can legally make it."
