Pricing came out close to what everyone expected. I can't wait to get the exact detail on the options.

You can do a whole lotta modding for 23k. Thats a bit much, dont ya think....

$23K is nice chunk of money to put towards mods. Problem is, what mods can be done to the GenV? Will the PCM be locked and not-tunable? Will the computer trips CELs if headers are added? Can a Paxton be installed? Many questions on mods.... Still waiting to see performance numbers on the GenV. Also would like to know option pricing. Based on what was done to the GenV I'm not surprised on the pricing. Now, can performance back up the price tag?

Has anyone figured the " King of the Hill " GTS will come in under a ZR1 and eat it's lunch -- kudos to SRT.

Eat its lunch?? That remains to be seen......pretty much same power to weight unless Viper is severely underrated and lighter that initial specs say I don't see it eating a ZR1's lunch.

I think SRT did good with the base being 100k. ******** guys get what they wanted at the price they wanted while the up market buyer can also get what they want. Can't wait for the real performance numbers to come in.

$23,000 -- one would guess a ton of that gets eaten up by the added electronics ( NAV, back up camera, etc. ), especially the suspension/shocks , electric seats, and the upgraded luxury interior. Even the standard seats are an upgraded Sabelt Nappa leather over the cloth/vinyl/leather base ones.

I won't disagree one bit that it sounds like a gap, but with the cost of a KW suspension on an ACR, one can easily postulate that the electronic one could easily be upwards of almost half the cost increase of the GTS, imho.

the pricing seems perfect. it keeps the car exclusive but not out of reach. the guys who have gen fours can upgrade pretty easily and the guys waiting to buy gen fours should be able to get cars at a reasonable price. well done!

Still wondering about the PCM codes, but I'm pretty sure a Mopar PCM option will be available so we can utilize headers, exhaust and possibly ported heads. The SRT will also be able to use alternate shocks such as the MCS's for real track duty, ride improvement will have to wait to see how the new car feels first.

I think the best is yet to come. Only short time will tell. :2tu:

"new catalysts to reduce back pressure "

I heard the new cats on the Dyno flowed better than any high flow Cat out there.

Chrysler did allot of research on the new car. Building it knowing how the viper nation like to modify and drive there cars hard

It is interesting how different colors on this car change the overall look and feel of this Viper! It must be all those curves!

It would be nice if SRT would show the car in different color combinations. How about a custom visualizer that shows the different lines or stripes someone can get when they order online or at dealership?

FYI - I read the new Viper can do 3.3 to 3.4 seconds (0-60).

I am good with it.Black SRT with the track package for me.Just hope they get busy building the cars so we can have them.Just wait what most of the dealers will want over sticker price.I bet some will ask and may get at least 10,000.00 over for the first ones.I just may be one of these people....

I applaud SRT, as this has single handedly wiped out the $137,999 and above rumors going on for months.

Sure with gas guzzler and shipping the car will likely be a bit over 100K in base form, but look at the monumental improvements it has received. Though the GTS has a bit more gap than some may have anticipated , one with no added options is going to be an extremely well equiped car.

Has anyone figured the " King of the Hill " GTS will come in under a ZR1 and eat it's lunch -- kudos to SRT.

Not one call today to complain, and that is everything in a nutshell --- when customers call and they are pleased with how SRT is handling the new Viper, it is apparent the pricing is fair and spot on to perception.

I'll bet that 138K number for a GTS with optional upgraded interior, stripes and the track pack will be pretty close. Heard the Styrker Red paint option price will make your hair stand up, too! Add in the gas guzzler and sales tax and you might hit 150K. I guess we will know in a few weeks! Glad once again for the SRT model so there is something for everyone.

everything is looking so far so good, reasonable prices has been announced and I really don't care about the ZR1 comparisons.

So far, all the announcements talk about a lighter brake package, lighter wheels and tires. No wing is ever mentioned. Package is available on both "models" and with either hood. No variation in downforce variation between hoods or heat release has been announced.

I have owned 5 Vipers and am sorry to say that my 03 will probably be my last. I don't know what world you all are living in but this economy has done me in and a $130k Viper is not in my near term financial future.

What about the $100k one? Honesty, what pricing were you expecting?

It doesn't need to be $130k, for $100k (which is not much different than the price of a 2010) you get all of the same features as the previous gen plus much much more. Based on this alone I think the modest increase in price for a base Viper is more than reasonable. I would like to get all of the fancy features of the GTS but if you were okay with the previous gens features, the base Viper is nothing different.

I have only seen specifically mentioned the two-mode active suspension and then some vague general references to other differences, what confirmation on other differences do we have and what are they?

It seems odd to me that the GTS version would have the two-mode active suspension, which indicates a track car, but then also have NAV, electric seats, luxury interior, etc., which seems counter to such. I'm not seeing any reason to get the GTS, for me at least, but want to make sure there isn't some must-have.

You make a strong point. The SRT model would be able to utilize Motons where the GTS cant. The base model does look enticing.

It will be interesting to see who steps up to actually purchase the Gen V. Not talking, but putting hard-earned money down to actually take delivery. Since I am located in SoCal, I am sure I will see many Gen Vs on the road. For now, I will enjoy my Gen IV.

Will it be the Gen II owners who like the Gen II look of the Gen V and are ready to part with large $$$$$$? Looks aside, if Gen IV owners upgrade to even the "Base Model" SRT for incremental increases in performance it will likely run their Gen IV PLUS $50,000 or more ($40k plus $10k in tax and license fees, plus $$$$ in Options)--that is a lot of scratch.

The Gen V GTS is in the rare-air zone now with out the door cost approaching $150,000 once you add in options, tax and license fees. It would be great to see the GTS eat into Lambo, Ferrari, GT and Porsche sales, but only time will tell.

As to the comments on the ZR1, well, a simple pulley swap and tuning means the Gen V is out gunned by the ZR1 and a new C7 ZR1 will be here in 2 years or less. Let's hope Dodge--I mean SRT--uses this time to produce a bad a@@ looking ACR (much more evil than the Gen Vs we have seen--more like the GTS-R) with 700 factory hp and a total price not to exceed $112k. Hey, we can dream right?

Anyway, hats off to Chrysler/Dodge/SRT/Ralph G. for giving us an improved and evolving Snake!

The GTS suspension does not have an active suspension. It has shocks which have two different settings (two-mode). The settings can be changed by remote control from within the car. BUT they are not active shocks such as the ZR1, Ferrari, etc has. The GTS has a four-mode ESC system (Full-on, Sport, Track, Full-off) where as the SRT has a two-mode system (Full-on, Full-off). What ends up as standard, optional and not available on the SRT vs. the GTS is not clear although there are several "draft" lists, one of which appeared in the Viper magazine!

It appears that, as Ralph said, the SRT is the basic package to appeal to current owners while the GTS is intended as a Grand Touring car. The GTS looks like a daily driver possibility.

I'm not sure why someone said that the GTS can't use replacement shocks.

Anyone else find it amazing that a Viper that will be at least 115K ( gas guzzler, sales tax, delivery etc and NO options) is positioned as the entry level car. The poor mans Viper. What recession?

SRT will launch the Barracuda as the poor man's Viper. That will fill the huge void.

I prefer the Viper to remain priced a bit high. When you see a Corvette, most people can't tell if its a $40,000 base model or a $130,000 ZR1. A Viper is basically a Viper. Awesome and More Awesome.

This. The Gen IV is already an amazing performer. It's a lot of money for the suspension and nicer interior, etc. But, if you got it (I don't, LOL) than I say go for it!
