2013 SRT Viper VIN #1 will be auctioned at the Orange County Barrett-Jackson auction. The event will be shown live on SPEED TV (set your DVR!) around 6:00pm EST. Proceeds from the auction are being donated to the Austin Hatcher Foundation to benefit pediatric cancer treatment, a great and worthy cause.

Watch for some So Cal members hanging out there.

Congradulations to the winner of the auction. As my grandmather used to say; may you enjoy your Viper for many years in good health! You certainly helped a great cause.

IMHO, the reason the Viper didn't go higher may be that the market hasn't caught up with the GTS Viper 2013, yet. I suspect that there are a lot of potential buyers, who are not current Viper owners, out there taking a "don't tell me, show me" attitude when it comes to the refinements Ralph spoke of. You know, the things that some Viper fans are worried will kill the Viper character. It is absolutely crucial that the first GTS Vipers be flawless to get the positive word of mouth going and the media astounded. The cabin had better be cooled properly and there better be foot room for the passanger and the driver.

My biggest concern is quality control during the switch from prototype parts to production parts by the suppliers. That is a time when a lot of changes occur, not all for the better, and certainly not all the impacts of the changes are realized immediately. If there is any doubt, I'd rather see the first ship dates slip than risk any problems.

Another big ingrediant is to have success in the ALMS racing program. The crowd showing up at the ALMS events represents many of the people Ralph is trying to capture. They need to be impressed.

Lastly, all the dealers had better realize that while there is room for the bears and there is room for the bulls there is no room for the pigs. No price gorging!

Just before the 2013 Viper drove over to the auction staging area, SRT handed out a bunch of Viper logo shirts with the charity printed on the front. We formed a posse, and in mass followed the Viper through the fairgrounds, and up onto the stage. We got to cheer on the bidders, and get up close and personal with the auction staff. We whooped and hollered as the bidding rocketed to $100,000 ---->$200,000---->and finally closing at $300,000.

We went back to our SRT corral, and got to spend some more time with the SRT team, and film crew. They took some interviews from owners, and are really serious about establishing the SRT brand as a force to be reconned.

At the auction site they were giving driving experiences for Ford & Chevy hot rods. Most popular were the corvettes and Boss 302 Mustangs.

The Mustangs were pretty hot, but the suspensions did not measure up to the Vipers.

We also got to mingle with other SRT owners of different Chrysler models. All and all a fantastic day spent among all things automotive.

I was at the auction today. I saw the Gen V under the SRT tent and then drive to the prep area with the SoCal members escorting it (and/or chasing it). Pretty fun to watch, and it created a lot of attention. It was the first time for me to see the Gen V up close and personal. Needless to say the fit and finish was flawless and the exhaust sounded great. A very positive experience for me. IMO a great day for Viper owners and enthusiasts.

Really.? 1st ZR1 went for 1 million. 1st Gt 500 went for over $500,000 back in 06. Like someone on here already mentioned, Dodge needs to get the race car out there and generate some interest.

You're talking Chevy & Ford though ... Dodge is a whole different ball game.

The Chevy/Ford crowd has 100 times the amount of followers as Dodge, period. Thus, you have 100 times more people will to put up crazy amounts of $$$ .... Not sure Chevy/Ford can ever be overtaken or even half matched by Dodge IMO. The roots of both C&F are just too deep

The first 2008 Challenger sold at Barrett Jackson for $400k and the first 2010 Camaro even got $350k. The difference was the Viper was auctioned off at Orange County and not Scottsdale. All the other first production cars that bring the real money go at Scottsdale.
