2015 GT - A dream come true

I have been a Viper enthusiast since 2004 and last week my dream finally came true, although it feels surreal. I bought a red 2015 GT from a Chrysler dealership in Toronto. I have been looking for the past 2 years and I stayed patient until I found the right Gen V that is red, with chrome wheels with low mileage. It had the painted black stripes, I made them change it to white vinyl stripes (I don't like black).

There is so much to discover about the Viper and so many things to get used to that were not always evident from all of my research and watching YT videos online. I am very impressed with the how solid and tight the build is from the shifter throw to the steering to the way it sits. I didn't think that egress and ingress would be this strong but I will get used to it. The cup holders placement and small door panels storage are minor.

The Viper is so different and unique. It's only been a week, but almost every time I drive it, someone waves or gives me a thumbs up.

The immense capability, phenomenal power delivery and great sound are what It's about. The power ferocity/grunt is amazing with the V10 roar! There is so much to discover about each gear and what the Viper is all about. I have hit the red line only a few times so far. I like the information display features and the SRT performance pages. My Viper journey has only just begun.

Congratulations! I think a lot of the reviews are somewhat "tainted" by the reputation of the Viper, but most people that own them and drive them know that they really are great cars. Reviews would have you think they are dang near uncontrollable and miserable to drive, but the truth is that they drive like any regular car if you just drive them that way. They are more than happy to do far far more than that, but they can be as docile as a Camry if you know how to hold back, lol. They are the best product Dodge has ever put out in my opinion, and incredibly well built and thought out. Hope you get to enjoy yours for many many miles to come! I'm just shy of 130,000 miles on my 04 and have no intention of stopping. What amazed me is that even after all those miles, when I was cleaning it up after a track weekend a little bit ago you can just wipe a rag with a little cleaner on it down the suspension parts and they come out looking like new. Dodge did a great job on protecting the cars so they would last for a long time if you take care of them.

And I agree, on a red car I prefer white stripes

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the Viper can be docile, especially during moving traffic. Other than for the performance sound, they drive pretty normal when you control your right foot. I am not too fond of stop and go traffic though with the clutch.

I forgot to mention that my Viper had 736 miles on it when I bought it. The Dodge dealership indicated that they are basically selling me a new Viper that is 6 years old. I opted to buy the 5 year Dodge comprehensive warranty for peace of mind.

I like the H/K stereo, it's pretty powerful. I am still trying to figure out the Uconnect and how I can load songs into the hard drive.

This past weekend I was shining up (armor all) the interior, engine bay area and inside carbon fiber panels. Is there anything specific that you use for the carbon fiber? Thanks.

I think all of those carbon fiber pieces likely have some kind of clear coat over them, so I'd probably just go with something meant for paint. A lot of times the carbon accents in cars are really just hydrodipped graphics, but it's been so long since I looked at a gen 5 up close to remember what it looks like. Generally you can tell the difference fairly easily. For the most part though I would just treat it like plastic. Carbon fiber really is just carbon strands in a filler epoxy. The epoxy can vary widely by application, but for nonstructural stuff it's typically similar to plastic.

Last Friday my Viper dream of almost 30yrs finally happened with the delivery of my 2017 GTC 1:1 TA 1.0.

I finally officially joined the Viper owners and it was worth the wait
