I don't put a lot of faith in this one happening. Depending on the source you read some will say it's happening for sure and others will say no chance in hell. I'd rather they bring back the Cuda name or something if they're going to do a V8 setup. I just don't think it would be well received as a Viper this soon after killing off the last one.

You think? If they do and it has a V8 rather then a V10, you think viper owners will be all up in arms about that?

The vocal ones, yes. However, opinion, people will look at the V8, a price tag that is to high and just move on. I don’t believe a new version of the Viper can or will be built to price match against the Vette, opinion, FCA will challenge the >= 200k markets. Building less than 500 units a year at best.

They do need to make the new Viper(if its happening) affordable. I mean not an outrageous price as in $200k+

Yeah, the problem is that Dodge can never really sell a car with that kind of price tag, the brand just can't carry it. The same was true of the old ME412 back in the day. That thing was a world ****** then and still is to some degree 14 years later. But can you imagine anyone spending $400k on a Chrysler? Doesn't matter how awesome the car is, I just don't see anyone doing it. Ford can kind of get away with it just because the GT has so much notoriety and history. Dodge has some of the same with the Viper, but I don't think it's old enough to pull that kind of cash yet. The GTs back in the day were not cheap, so new ones can be expensive too. The Viper was always reasonably affordable as supercars go, so I don't think they can really change the price bracket it's in and have much luck.

Totally agree. They then should lower it to at least $100k. Corvette has several ZO6s that sell in that range and do well. Compete with that price range and I bet they can get back in that game.

Sergio does have a way of keeping the door open

From the article

Sergio didn’t completely give up on the idea, reportedly commenting that he would be happy if FCA could find a way to get it done.

Ive started many a war on this one. Id rather the Viper die a
dignified death than it become the next MustangII or Charger
joke that car guys tell over beers.

Im sure that FCA can build a cheaper V8 powerhouse car with
little effort, but to what end? Itll never be "cheap" enough to
compete with the Corvette, and never be "supercar" enough to
go toe-to-toe with Ferrari or Porsche. The only reason FCA
would even consider it is, just like the Charger, the licensing is
still valid on the Viper and it would be simpler to name the new
car a recognized brand.

I contend the reason GenV prices skyrocketed in the first place
was because the engineers at SRT were more concerned with
breaking that stupid Nuringbiringuergering record than building
a proper Viper. End result - a $160k+ car that the people who
want cannot afford, and the people who can afford... can go
buy something more exotic.

An $80k V10 Gen6 is not absurd, IF you build a motor, chassis
and some pretty lines. It doesnt need to compete with Zonda
or Lamborghini, thats not its purpose.

Sorry, but I Don't see this Happening! Also, a V8 Supercharger with only 60 more HP than the Gen. V's! Not to mention the Price Tag
