As I see post with wrecked vipers going for +/-$20k, that seem not that much damaged, do you think it could be a good project for a track car only? and how much would you think it would cost me to put it back on the track? I am talking about a track car, not a race car.
Thanks for your input.

are you registering this for the street? If not why not just take advantage of the great prices for vipers set up for the track? most if not all are already sorted out.

You can buy a gen1 non wreck for less than it would take to fix even a slightly wrecked car.

Buy mine. Sell all the parts you don't need for a race car and you will probably end up spending less than the asking price of the wrecks.

Why go with a Viper?Like a full size car? Then look for a used busch car.More reliable,Cheaper and easier to maintain.Blow doors off Vipers etc or push them out of your way. GTS Bruce

I like your way of thinking, Bruce...
How much do used Busch cars go for.....roller.....turnkey....?
Also is it hard to make them turn right and not just left?
Cheers,

It would not be wise to get an oval track car and modify it for road. NASCAR runs two road tracks each year and those would be the cars to get. The teams are supposed to destroy the cars when they are done with them (something to do with sponsorships and liabilities, blah, blah, blah) but if you have the right connections you can pick them up for 50 to 70K turnkey...and talk about "sorted out."

BTW Jeff Gordon's road car is fast as hell.

I've seem them as low as 20-30.I'm talking busch car not nextel cup car.Busch car has a shorter wheel base and is meant for short tracks and road courses.Only diff for a road course mechanicaly is the track bar is connected in the opposite direction.Of course springs and set ups are completely different.Busch North(NE) runs a lot of ovals but WG,Limerock etc too. Jason, no car in particular yet, just trying to get some ideas.
Frank, no it will be track only, but not race. Are the vipers you 're talking about more in the 50-70k range?
Joe, Thank you, really good Idea...I am going to look in that direction as well.
Bruce, Scott, Chuck, sorry, Viper only. It would be for road courses. No interest in oval tracks. And my budget would be in the 20k, maybe to small for the Viper use???
Thanks everybody for your great inputs, looking for more.

;) If your looking for a D E Event car that's fast and you want to run on a budget.... you might want to see about a used T-1 Corvette. These cars are FAST and already set-up for tracking. With the new C-6's arrival, plenty of C-5 Z06's are coming onto the market.

Parts are CHEAP... very available from places like NAPA & Auto-Zone.

Viper parts are scarce & EXPENSIVE !!! Example: new rotors for a Z06 from NAPA ~ $26.00 each!
