It seems like tirerack is having a sale on alot of michelin pilot sports. I don't need rear replacement tires yet, and likely won't for a while. How long are tires good for unmounted? In other words, what is the life expectancy before the rubber starts to deteriorate to the point the tire starts to become defective? If I can store them, I may buy a set.

Well, that is the stated price for not only the 345/30-19s, but for alot of other sizes in the ads for the March issues of my automags.

I don't have the issue in front of me, but I'll check again. Price does seem too good to be true. If that is the printed price, it likely is in error.

And don't forget that Fiorano has aftermarket wheels: These tires (19") will not fit the '92-'98 (17") or the '99-'02 (18") stock wheels. And they aren't run-flats so they probably wouldn't be recommended for the SRT-10's (19" rear wheels) either. Still a helluva buy if you can find them at that price!

You all have gotten away from the original question. How long can tires be stored before loosing their performance? Assuming they are stored in a reasonable controled environment, say a spare room in the house.

DarcShadow, two or three years tops for street tires.

If you do NOT store them in your HOT garage and store them in a cool area not in the sun light they will last much longer.....

Yes , Pilot sports.......it was 2 weeks ago
let me see if I can find the link.......

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2456129435

That link is for 335's not 345 , I know that may mean little to others, but thats huge to me. Pricing is much different for 335's vs 345's IF I wanted a great deal on 335's I would have bought them last year when they were dirt cheap at $130 a tire or so, from both John B and Tire Rack.

TireRack states that it is a TYPO of the real rpice $379.

They are going to post the fine-print policy, saying "NO DEAL"

I just thought that I would stop by and reply to this post .....

Although, we do try to be as accurate as possible in all of our advertising, at times some things can and do slip through our proof readings of the adds we publish. The 345/30-19 Pilot Sport for $179 is an example of just that, it is a typographical error.

There is a legal disclaimer at the bottom of all adds to protect us from our own errors such as this .....

The correct price for that tire is $397.00 each in the non-run flat version and $399.00 in the zero-pressure or run flat version .....

sorry for the confusion and our error

we're not perfect but we try really hard :)

I can post the fine print if anybody cares to read it .....
