I have one question though - Where the ******* do you guys drive to be meeting up with all these Modenas??? I logged 125k last year in travels and saw plenty of Z8s, Diablos, 512s and even one F40 but I have never even seen a Modena let alone pulled up against one at a light/tollbooth.

Regarding ferraris, i was also at pocono about a month ago.
Of course i got there about 11 am so i missed the meeting, and went straight to racing. I also had no problem passing them on the staights, but due to the driver (me) they would catch me in the turns. I had a session with a rare ferrari...i courteously would let him by before i hit the turns, and then i would have no choice but pass him on the straights.
I had the old zr1 which has a slightly weak clutch so at this point i think its even in power with the GTS. As a matter of fact i was complemented by the ferrari driver as to the power of the Zr. I will tell you that when he went by me the sound of his car was like nothing i have ever heard. Awesome. There was also a diablo there but i missed his runs. i would have loved to see how he did. IMHO i don't think a stock Modena has a chance against a stock Viper GTS, but i still love them cars.

My $.02:

At the Ferrari/Viper event last year at Pocono, I found (and I am just an average 3-4 time a year roadcourse participant) that the 360 was a very interesting challenge, but was able to pass EVERY 360 on the track except one. And I didn't pass him as a courtesy to the driver as he was very close in speed as me, so I stayed behind him for the entire session, but was able to keep right on his tail (and actually felt like I could have passed him on the long straight).

When I got done with the session, I spoke to the gentlemen, and realized he was on slicks, and was a VERY experienced driver pushing the car to its limits. His first comments when I approached him was "why didn't you pass me? You had me every lap".

The 360's are beautiful (as are our Snakes), and are competitive, but in my opinion, our Vipers have a clear edge.

I ran into a 360 Modena Spyder on the way to the May Northern California VCA Meeting. I was at a light and heard the distinctive F-Car sound. The driver was revving his engine egging me onto a stoplight challenge. As soon as trafic started moving, I switched lanes and followed him onto the expressway. From a roll, the my Viper pulled on him at least 2 car lengths. From a complete stop, the viper clearly demolished the F-Car. Now my viper isnt completely stock, but it isnt that highly modified either. I guess I jsut dont understand how those 2 vipers lost to a Ferrari.

I parked my RT/10 in the primo spot at The Winghouse and while I was chowing on some wings a Testarossa pulls into the lot. When the guy walked in I asked him how he liked the Ferrari and he said "It's a Ferrari, what's not to like?" Kinda standoffish, rare compared to the majority of Ferrari owners I've met.

Anyway before I left I went to the guy and told him I was leaving and he could have the primo spot, and he said, "Oh, you own the Viper." I just smiled and left, thought about going back with #34 but decided against it. He'll find out someday.

Well I was at Willow Springs Int'l Raceway this weekend and I noticed a 2002 360 Modena F1 in my run group. Well I got REAL excited and got right behind him in the pre-grid. Off we go and I lay low behind him for a few laps to see if he could drive. He knew the track line and we were the fastest run group so decided to strike. I blew by this guy sooo fast his head spun, I think I put a half a track between us by session's end.

There is quite a difference between a 348/355 challange car & a 360 challange car, There is no way anyone is selling any 360 for 70 or 80k. A 355 challange weighs over 3000 lbs vs 2500 for the 360 challange. 412 hp & 2500 lbs you do the math. I started driving with the ferrari club guys (I still have a 74 dino) back in the 80's & I can say that they usually are not that keen to tear up the $200K + rides tryng to set the fastest lap time. Being rear engined & very expensive to repair & maintain ( I think a f1 355 clutch is around 7K$$), most guys just bring them out for exercise & a good time. I would venture to say with an equal drivers a 360 challange will easily handle an ACR, a stock 360 weighs about 2900 according to the specs I picked up at the factory in april. The factory peformance figures quoted are: 440 meters 12.0 for the challange 12.4 for the street car with top speed over 184mph for both. The amazing thing is the 550 (now 575) V12 cars are being pushed off the line to make more 360's. The result of the 360 demand is the used 550's prices are dropping to around 125K or so, wich is a steal.
