5 Spoke Wheels back from Cal Chrome

The wheels/tires arrived safely from Cal Chrome today (they now have 6,000 more miles on them than when I shipped from the East Coast.

Turned out very well, you can see the big difference in the stock polished/clear coated wheels compared to these. I also had the caps plated, the SRT filled with red powder coat, nitrogen filled and road force balanced. The red SRT picks up the calipers and red SRT badge on the fender nicely.

I'll get these on tomorrow and will be posting the wheels/tires shown on the car in the classified section in a few days for sale. I picked them up last month from a member here to put on so the car would be movable/drivable while waiting for the chrome replacements. I put a whopping total of 166 miles on them while waiting.

Yea, the camera flash makes the original finish look cloudy. The originals are in great condition and look really good in the sun, the chrome is just SO much better. I would suspect that someone will buy the set on the car, do the same thing I did, then resell again.

Even though they look nice, i always feel chrome is too flashy, i wish the factory wheels were cast so they would polish nice!

John, They look fantastic! I got my Cal Chrome H-spokes via JonB. Did you know that not only can you get the center caps chromed, but you can get the inlay painted red also. Favorite mod done to my car.

Strip the clear coat off and you will be able to polish them "mirror-like" . If not a DD, then keep wax and/or metal protectant on 'em and "touch up" maybe once per year.
JohnK, the chrome does look great. I forget what Cal Chrome charges and what warranty they offer. shipping plus all the re-mount/bal is what? about $275 ea?

Same here. Bought a set of used 5 spokes and had them chromed by CalChrome. Big improvement overall. I also had the center caps chromed.

Does CalChrome do a re-polish and re-clearcoat as well as offer chroming services? Couldn't find it on their Website. I have the Copperhead SRT wheels and one of them has a few scratches and a wheel-mounting machine burr. Had a flat that needed an emergency repair at a "non-careful" tire shop .

Mirror Finish Polishing does very nice work ... not sure if they clear coat though.

Use to work at a polishing shop in Phoenix. That guy would clear coat if customer wanted,
but he was opposed to that. He liked the plain polished look. Which looked like chrome at first,
but gradually would dull. You had to keep after them.
Not sure all shops offer that though.

but gradually would dull. You had to keep after them.
Not sure all shops offer that though.

Same here. I charge extra to clear coat and recommend not do it. Difficult process on polished alum. Dulls the finish some as well.

true but some rims are tougher than others to polish, keep that in mind....polishing can be a real PIA

The issue with repairing one wheel is having a near-perfect match in terms of the "tint" of the clear coat. Search the archives as a bunch of folks had this issue. If you have the cash, have the entire set chromed.

Polishing is way too much work... Great job on the chrome.. these things are gonna be really bright and look amazing out in the sun.
