Viper Owner
Boris Said proved that, the Mustang isn't a GROCERY GETTER, nuff said.
Obviously all mustangs are not grocery getters but there are no grocery getter vipers. Vipers are extraordinary and mustangs are veryordinary...
have lots of room above the spare tire for groceries in the Viper

I guess the base model Mustang could be considered pretty ordinary? Over the past couple of years Ford has really improved the Mustang it's quality and fit and finish. The 2011 Mustang GT at 400 HP is a heck of a car. The 550 HP Shelby GT 500 is a terrific car. The Shelby Mustangs produced from Shelby American are extraordinary cars. Maybe not for everyone but objectively amazing cars. Any 800HP street car built in low volume modified by hand that can be driven as an everyday driver is amazing in itself I think. The fact that Carroll Shelby is still actively involved building Shelby Mustangs all these years later is a story all by itself.
For me one of the attractions to the Viper is it is a modern day Shelby Cobra a wonderful modern interpretation of an iconic car. I think the Viper is already an icon. An American handbuilt pure sports car built for a select group of people that appreciate a pure drivers car. A large displacement naturally aspirated minimalist drivers car. The Viper like the new 800 HP Shelby Mustang is a car intenionally built to appeal to only a few people as opposed to the automotive masses. It just doesn't get any better.
It will be interesting to see how Vipers fare in the future with value and how they fit in automotive history. Will they be the Cobra's of our generation? Last month a 1965 Shelby GT 350 R model Mustang sold for over 800K in a private sale. Boss 429s rountinely sell for 250K. 65 Shelby Mustang street cars sell from 200K to 400K. 1966 Shelby GT 350s sell from 100K to 380K depending on the car. The car most like the Viper the CSX 3000 series Shelby AC 1960s Cobra's sell from 650K to 1.5 million. Will Vipers in 50 years do the same? What about the new modern Shelby's? Who knows?
I'd rather have a 550HP Ford GT than an 800hp Mustang.
It's still a Mustang.
Vipers are extraordinary and mustangs are very ordinary...

basic NA GT's are in the mid 11's with little money in mods compared to vipers. thats not a slow car.
reading some forums they are doing mid - high 12's stock, thats gonna beat half the vipers on the street at a stoplight

Plum, obviously some folks never driven a Terminator Cobra with a pulley change, otherwise they wouldn't rag on the Mustang so much
Gotta love Ford, and I would enjoy the heck out of that thing!!
With that being said, they keep packing on the HP but it's still a heavy, solid axle, beast without enough rubber. Reminds me of a bodybuilder who never works out his legs, but keeps getting a bigger upper body.
The car lacks balance, the HP side is too overwhelming for the chassis/ suspension side. Hoping the Viper tops it? - It's not even in the same class, as said before.
But if you wanna bang from stoplight to stoplight, this may be your weapon..
Obviously all mustangs are not grocery getters but there are no grocery getter vipers....
