94 battery replacement

Replacing my battery in my 94 I don't even know were it is?? Also I went with a optima battery I hope this was a good choice thanks in advance tim bob

Battery is located in the rear drivers side wheel well. You need to remove the rear drivers side wheel using a jack stand for safety. Then remove the rear portion access panel of the inner fender well, about 5-6 bolts to include the rear fascia bolts and two frame mount bolts. Not a difficult job if you have basic mechanical skills. If the battery tray is rusty or corroded, this would a good opportunity to clean/paint to prevent further deterioration.

If you don't have a shop manual for your 94, I suggest you obtain one. It has step by step instructions and photos for the entire car.

In my Gen2, it's behind the wheel well on the drivers side, like RT/ED said...the main reason why they put it there is for weight distribution. But if they would have made an access panel in the trunk for it, it would be much quicker to get too.

There is a viper specific Optima battery that fits the Viper, if you get the wrong one it will arc against the frame. Many people don't like them, but I've had great luck with mine. The key is not to deep cycle the red top battery, if you don't drive it much, keep a "Battery Tender" brand maintainer on the car. No other brand of battery maintainer works as effectively, and I've tried them all. I use part number 021-0128 and its available at Walmart. It's called a Battery Tender Plus by Deltran. The Optima battery part number is 8078-109 78 Redtop.

The optima battery I got and installed which was not to bad of a job is 9078-109 I hope it's the same it fit like a glove thanks but know car won't start I'll start a new thread

Yes, the battery is behind the drivers side wheel. Remove the wheel, a few bolts...a couple plastic fasteners and pull the inner fender lower portion. As said before....it is important that the battery terminals don't touch the frame rails.

Also...the battery isn't there for weight distribution. In the 1992 and early 1993s, the battery was mounted under a panel in the trunk. When they started selling Vipers overseas..they had to convert to rear exhaust...and had to move the battery.
