I noticed that my clutch is starting to slip on my 96 under acceleration. I just hit 40,000 miles so I guess it is time. I am happy putting it back to stock. Before I start calling to find someone in the area I can trust, any idea about how much I am looking at? Or is there a inexpensive mod i should make at the same time?
Thanks, Rick

Yup, Chuck will give you a good price. I know that they are or were available on eBay as well and that they were relatively inexpensive. I remember going to a dealer and they quoted me $1200 to replace the clutch with labor. Of course I freaked and called Chuck. Long story short, now I use Chuck for everything!

Like the guys have said, Chuck Tator is the man to go to. If you're close to him, feel lucky! Very, very lucky. I had a 96 RT (Black w/silver stripes) and replaced my clutch at 37K miles. Did the work myself(first clutch ever :2tu: ), and leaned on Chuck if I ran into any issues. :headbang:

Stick it in fourth at 100mph and mash the go pedal. You will notice RPM's building faster than your mph. Likely hear a growning noise also.
Or for those who don't like to go too fast. Start in 2nd gear from a stop and once you're rolling, again mash the go pedal. Be careful not to slip it too much.

How about the other high-milage Vipers? Anyone here with more than 50K - 60K miles on the original clutch?

On my first Viper, 2000 GTS, I made it to 50K...(Daily driver then) Then one night I let my girlfriend drive it to a party with some of her friends, (I know, I know... ) that was the weekend it just so happened to go out. The one thing I can tell you once they start slipping it goes to the groung very very fast. So dont let too much time pass before you fix it.
