Well, I think I have narrowed my search to finding a 96 GTS, Blue and white. I have found one in Savannah, GA and would like some input.

He tells me he has all the stock parts and can put them all back on. What do you think the value of the car is with and without the mods. Has anybody else checked this car out yet? I found it on autotrader. He bought the car 10 months ago. He tells me is went for a show and not really a "all go" with the mods. Seems about right since he has not touched the engine. He did the exhaust for the sound only he tells me.

The car has just over 17K miles and he is the 2nd owner. He also has a 7yr/75 transferable factory warranty good until late 2003.

This is what he tells me he has in the car.

Viper gts: $53,500
Hennessey 3" cat back with heatshield $1800
HRE 19"x10" 19"x13" pirelli tires $8200
Roe Racing 14" brake upgrade $1800
MGW polished aluminum interior goodies $500
Eibach 1" lowering springs $300

I told him I would consider the car with all the goodies for a price around the mid to lower 50's and something around mid 40's in stock form and the exhaust. Edmunds quotes 39K and kelly quotes 42k.

I welcome the comments. This place is a great help! I think membership is a deff. when I get one of these beasts.

Personal Opinion Follows - may be biased as owner of 2 1996 GTSs..

Blue and White cars seem to be holding their value better than the average bear. It seems to be the most sought after color based on requests I have received from folks looking for cars - yellow second. Bottom $ is mid $40's for a 20K-35K average car. Under 10K mile cars probably end up in very low $50's (stock) with some additional $$ for warranty - NOTE - be careful - DC Extended Warranty only transferrable ONCE, so if he did not buy the warranty, then it will NOT be valid for you.

Mods will price out at less than 50% of purchase price - with possible exception of wheels / tires as there always seems to be a market for them.

Kellys and Edmunds are NOT realistic - the $$ they get are for auction cars and other dealer $$$ which, IMO, is not representative of good clean private sale cars.

IF this is a good clean car, then you should be in good shape to be able to buy it, enjoy it for a while and resell - due to the color. Probably won't gain in $$$, but certainly the bottom of the market seems to have been stable for a while now - Vipers (GTSs) just don't seem to get much cheaper than $45K-$47K unless there is something MAJORLY wrong with them.

Have car checked out THOROUGHLY before you buy. As always - life is too short to get a CRAPPY Viper.
